I was looking for an I Pod for the boat and Hot Rod and the discovered the Creative Labs Zen Mp3. What's the diff if they have the same capacity? Pros, cons? Thanks.

We have several different types.
The kids all say Ipod is da finest kine.
Wife loves hers.
It's Apple, and Apples iTunes is the dominate service.
Jives well with it says the kids.
Limewire is on it's way out BTW.
The same legal team that shut down Napster is now in Fed court with Limewire.

That's a question for kids. They can give you the best advise on that.

all my friends have ipods, they are the best out there right now
i had a creative zen micro, it broke, i took care of it, never dropped it, not even a scratch. it just stopped working.
i had insurance on it, so i got another one. same kind.
two months later, the headphone jack started acting up, then the on/off switch stopped working, so i had to remove the battery to turn it off and put it in to turn it on. and it froze up alot.
so i would stay away from creative labs if i were you..
just my two pennies

I have the Zen Micro. Seems to work pretty good. Kinda nice cause it has a built in FM tuner just in case you wanna litsen to the radio. I use it mostly in the boat. It did shut off on me this weekend though. The screen said it was overheating. Probably didn't help that my friend left it in the direct sunlight for a few hours. Worked fine today though.

I guess it also depends on what you are going to use it for but I would go with the iPod as there is way more accessories for it. Nothing beats controlling the iPod with the transom stereo remote.

I have an iPod, Zen, and Archos 420. I use my Archos 420 the most. I photographed the new SanDisk Sansa last week and was very impressed with it.

At half the price of the iPod it is worth a look. Most of the complaints with iPod is you can not subscribe to monthly music subscriptions. Although I hear Apple will have something soon.
20 dollar rebate at buy.com right now.

i had the Creative Zen Jukebox 40g for about 2 years and it froze on me, just stopped working all together. Just bought the Ipod 5th generation 30g and so far so good.

I've had both but prefer the Ipod (Nano) for size, manageability, and form.
Note: Never clean the Ipod screen with brake cleaner...

If you dont want to be able to down load and listen on the same devise then this one is from the company that makes the drives for the Ipods http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/acat.to?seg=HHO&coid=-27925

My goal is to use it in the boat and Rv. I found the Zen 200 series does not have a transmitter. Thier 100 series does.

I have an I Pod. I chose it so I could use it in my truck through a Clarion touch screen TV. Its a pretty trick set-up. The I Pod stays in the glove box while I control it through the screen.

Why would you make a statement like that, then contradict yourself and post a link to a Verizon phone. Verizon limits the phones potential making it a sales tool for them and their "get it now" system.. You can only buy the music from them, download it to the phone (which can not be moved to another device). Seems to be a cool phone though.
My vote is for Ipod, do to the compatibility. I wouldnt have bothered getting an adapter for my truck if I couldnt control it through the head unit controls.

Got a 60GB Zen player off eBay for $180.
If you aren't a "brand name" shopper, go Creative. If you're a sheep, go iPod.
I own both and I like the Zen Explorer- Windows XP interface way better.
Cheaper, better interface, what's not to like?
Cheers

The ipod is going to be much durable. The earphones are much better quality than what most lower price music systems use. Ford and others are getting ready to have stereos with ipod plugs. The ipod and itunes have changed the music world. Sales of CDs are dropping as more and more go to itunes type sales. Some artists are still holding out, but most have given in. The big deal is those artists that will insist that their albums only be sold intact. Some will have the clout to make it stick, others will not. Personally, I prefer having the albums on CD and then just loading them as needed.

Sorry for jacking the thread....
What would be the best Tv/Dvd in dash system for my truck to use with the ipod. I'm thinking of selling my truck and I'm debating whether to leave the current set-up in there. I have the Clarion Vrx765Vd (as shown above). Is that a reliable unit or should I step-up with my next truck?
