If I built this house in Havasu, would the locals be at my doorstep with pitchforks and torches.

You can't be serious? That thing would be like a convection oven in the summer. Then again it's not any worse than the baby blue CapCod style house on Jamacia.

Haha...I think its pretty cool...could be a cheaper way to go....have remote blinds....but breaking into it would probably be very easy... :crossx:

Everytime I drive by that house I think of how out of place it is. Looks like it should be on a ranch back east somewhere. :rollside:

It is a pre-fab and comes flat packed on a truck for 30K, not including windows. I have seen people build the whole thing for 100k. They did a lot of the work themselves. My wife and I are really into modern design and have always thought this would make a great get-away home. I wanted to build it in Lake Arrowhead but it doesn't meet the snow load requirements.

From the Architect
We design our homes to be energy efficient by creating deeper wall and roof cavities which allow us to over insulate and achieve remarkable R-values. The LV home has (2) 6” walls which, if batt insulation is installed, can achieve
R-38. Most homes have R-14 to R-19 as their wall R-value, so we are more than double the typical R-value. If you were to use spray in Icynene, you can achieve an even higher R-value.
We have designed the roof to have an R-value of R-50. This is achieved by using rigid and tapered insulation. Most homes have R-19 through R-38 as their roof R-value. Since most heat gain and heat loss occurs through the roof, it is critical to design the roof with as much insulation
possible. This insulation will block the strong summer sun which is at its highest position in the sky during the summer months. During the winter months, when the sun is at its lowest position, the roof insulation keeps the winter sun’s heat inside your home. Our designs offer excellent lighting and ventilation making your home a healthy and comfortable environment.

I always wanted to build one of the Camp structures after seeing it in Dwell a while back.
Go for it! The big question is will they design a matching garage?

I have a baby on the way and was thinking of putting a fish camp in my backyard to make room for the new family member. I would move my office from the 4th bedroom to the fish camp. That structure is made from SIP panels so it has a good insulation as well. That kit is complete for about 30k and you don't need a permanent foundation. I wonder what my city would think of it.

The LV now has a garage. It is 25 feet square but I am sure they will design anything you want. Althoug 25 feet would fit my current boat, I would have to plan for a bigger boat in the future.

I say put some large toons and call it the new Quadtoon Houst Boat. Put 4 Merc 300's on it and see how fast you can get to topac. Get on the list now for a quad slip in the Marina. :)
With the right props, you will do 25 MPH Easy!!

No, there is a couple others around the corner. My favorite is the house on the corner of Southwind and Scout that has the roll out turf ( not astro ). It was done so bad you just need to see to believe.
Are you having work done?

l looked at the on line floor plan and your answer is NO!!!!!!!!!!!
LHC CDD would not approve this building, it does not appear to meet IRC-2003 building standards.
the real question is, if the avg. Lot in LHC is going for $140k why would you put a $30k house on it  or even a $140k house makes no sense.
it is not wise to build a home of less than 1.5 times the lot value

SummetKarl, this is from the site re: building codes
What building codes was the LV series kit home designed for?
The LV series kit home meets or exceeds all structural specifications in the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) for single family residential construction. The LV series kit home meets the following UBC structural requirements: 20-50 psf snowload, 100 mph (exp. C) windload, and zone 4 seismic. The LV series kit home meets the following IRC structural requirements: 20-50 psf snowload, 120 mph (exp. C) windload, and seismic category D. The LV150 (LV for hurricane areas) was engineered to meet Miami Dade Structural specifications, one of the most stringent codes for hurricane environments. The LV150 meets the following IRC structural requirements: 20 psf snowload and 150 mph (exp. C) windload. At an additional cost, we can certify the plans to the specifications as listed above in all 50 states. The only structural limitation for the LV series is that it can not sustain heavy snow loads that are greater than 50 psf. Given the numerous code variations with respect to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical, it is up to the purchaser to ensure that the design and build plan they choose for these system meets local building codes.
Your finished construction costs would be 1.5X+ the lot cost if you didn't do any of the work yourself. Besides, I don't know about you but I wouldn't want the note on my weekend home to be greater than the home I live in full time. I can't comment on the LHC CDD since I am not familiar with them. If you have a copy, I would love to see them.
If that is too weird for everyone I like these as well

Check out the CH1. I would make the garage open on both sides so you could just pull your boat through.
OK, be kind to me now.
