I'll jump rite in, I know all the moves and plays, rules and odds,, and I usually get my ass kicked gambling.
The Bluewater is naming the street in front "RD way" (one way of course). And RD admits they own him.
Geesus,, the BS I hear about peoples winnings. Put on the waders.
Craps used to hold a 2% house advantage if played by the book, which I always do.
Doesn't seem like much, but it's an enormous advantage.
Video poker the house holds an astronomical advantage.
I rarely come home a winner,, and everyone knows it.
When someone says they win all the time,,, BS.
Their creditability takes a big league drop.
What's your story?:

I don't play card or dice games, I like the old slots. However I have been known to walk out of Harrahs with 3x what I brought. In the last couple years we have never left with less than we took. It's all about intuition and gut feeling. My 1099's speak for themselves.

I win some and I lose some. I've bought in for $100 and cashed out over $500 less than 45 minutes later. I've also dropped $400 at the craps table in the course of an evening. A friend of mine consistently wins at blackjack by counting cards.

I have never won money at the bluewater.. Point in fact the few times I've gambled there I've lost every single time. I actually tried to make a serious gambling run at that place a few years back and it cost me a couple grand.
San Manuel out in riverside though, I killed in that place a few times.. Granted I've love more times then I've won, but I usually lost 100 bucks or so. I started playing blackjack in that place with 50 bucks one time and walked out with 3 grand. Another time I started with a couple hundy and walked out with a little over 8 grand. Both times I went to Vegas the following weekend and donated everything to the rio.. I'm pretty sure I've paid for atleast one or two of those rooms to be built by now. I have a horrible gambling story at the Rio from years ago most that know me personally have heard it. I actually had those guys show up at my work just to "remind me" that I owed them cash. I can thank my old (but strangely enough I work for the guy again now) boss for that one.. LOL

The wife and I had a thirteen visit winning streak at the local Indian casino. Any where from $100.00-$2000.00. It seemed like we couldn't lose. It ended and now it seems like we can't win. We're still ahead of them but not by much.

I know a ton of people who tell little fibs about their winnings. Most recent would be a guy who came in my shop swearing up and down that he had just cashed in this years World Series Of Poker, needless to say, his name was not on the list of winners.
I for one never lie about my winnings and have had my fair share of beats form the Bluewater. That place is so hit or miss, its crazy. First trip out this year I hit two, yes two Royal Flushes, one on a .25, and one on a 1.00 machine, for 5 grand. I however have been back at least 10 times this year and haven't won a damn thing (I swear they are watching me on the cameras and making the machines tight on me lol) since the first trip. I have however won playing live poker, there room always has a good game on the weekends, filled with suckers, degenerate gambler dealers, and people who cant play drunk. There no limit game is always good for at least $500.00

The other night I lost a fair amount....I was trying to get some fun money for this past weekend. I DO win my fair share but have of course gotten beat down many times. Am I even? I have no idea but I usually go in with X dollars and have a goal and if I reach it I am gone. I don't usually drink much when I play BJ anymore. I used to drink a lot when I play but not much anymore. Most people don't have any idea when to walk and I have tried to pay close attention to that aspect of it. Sit too long and 99% of the time they will get it all from you.
Since I am out in BH so often accross the river from Laughlin the "fun" of the casinos isn't what it used to be. It is a business and I also try to keep that in mind. Most people that come out on my boat are so worn out by the end of the day they just like to kick back by the pool, have some drinks, a good BBQ along with some good music.
Most of my friends that have been out gambling with me will tell you that I am about the luckiest guy they know when it comes to this stuff. Of course that is not true but that is their perception.
I am not dumb enought to think that they built those casinos while letting every DILLIGAF that comes in win :)

Not ashamed to say I suck at gambling........so basically I don't. We will however drop a few coins in slots and see how long we can play.
Once, maybe twice we paid for our weekend gas with winnings from slots but thats about where it ends.
Now, I'm sad because its hard as hell to find a place where you can even get your fingers blackened by coin slots anymore, now all they take is cash and you get back a piece of paper   What fun is that ? :D :D

I was 22, didn't know sh!t about cards, go to Harrah's Tahoe with $25 and left 3 hours later with $2500.
Fast forward to the last 10 years: I have read books and am pretty good at card counting and basic strategy and I'm lucky to win 1 out of every 4 visits!
For me, the cure to not gambling anymore was living in Vegas. It took away it's allure having seen so many sob stories of people losing their houses, jobs, marriages. Now I haven't gambled in several years...
Gambling fibs: My wife would travel to Vegas with some friends. Lose $200 the first night. Win $25 the second...Come home and declare that she was "up" $25...chick math!!!

I play the horses and cards. I have won pretty big at the track however I have lost big as well. Seems the older I get, the attraction is not as great. I still go to the track maybe once a month but nothing like the old days.
I bring $300.00 for the day, if I loose it, thatÂ’s it, time to go home. Come back another day.

That is exactly the scenario they want as a gambling house...you get that "big win" and think it is easy. They want you to keep coming back searching for that same feeling again. No different than a meth dealer IMO. I have always been able (up to this point) to go to that line in life, kick it a bit, mess it up a bit but not cross it :) Some people have no idea where that line is.
I also notice the people who HAVE to win seem to never win. It is the people who look at it in realistic terms that seem to win moreso.

Pretty much the only thing I really gamble at consistently (as in all the time, probably 4 - 10 times a week) is pool. That's a whole lot different then going up against a casino though.. I wish some of those dealers that have taken me in the past played though, becuase I'd rob them so bad I'd have to leave the joint with a paper bag on my head with little eyeholes cutout..

My wife myself and 4 other friends sat down at blackjack at around 11:30 pm. We all bought in with $100 played at the same table with drinks the whole time till 5 in the morning and we all walked away 20 to 40 up. Not big money but alot of fun.

When I was in college, I could sit on a two-dollar, single-deck blackjack table at Harrah's Laughlin for two or three hours with the lousy $20 I could afford, drink several beers, and I always seemed to come out even or slightly ahead.
Now, my financial circumstances are different, but I don't really have the patience to work at blackjack like I used to. So, I find that I lose more often than I win...I tend to get down and then make larger bets to get back to even (I know, poor strategy).
I prefer playing craps now, a much more social game, but it is so easy, even playing by the book, to end up with a ton of money on the table. It's great when the roll is going your way, lousy when it's not.
Bottom line, I look at gambling as expensive entertainment. I bring only what I am willing to lose and try to have as much fun as I can playing. If it's not fun, there's really no point to play and I would rather go do something else. Generally speaking, if I get up, I pocket my original stake and play with the house's money, or I walk if I am done having fun.

Good food, nice hotels rooms, lots of bars and fun people to hang with, and a broad range of entertainment options.
Frankly, we don't end up in the casino near as much anymore.

I used to make a living betting sports. I gave it up when I lost $12,000 on the Mike Tyson/Buster Douglas fight. It paid 1:12 on Tyson, so I thought I'd make an easy $1000 and pay my rent. I've never been so sick in my life, it was just about every cent I had in the world.
That exact story happened to my friend, also named Bob,...even the amount. He still talks about it. We had like 8 guys at my house and he looked like he drank a gallon of bleach.

I was working on a project about 5 years ago right next to the Fort McDowell Casino, Every day for a year and a half, one of my workers would go into the casino at lunch and put three dollars into the same slot machine and do one pull. Most of the time he would loose and just walk out and get a soda at the gas station, but every once in a while he would hit. Then one day he comes back from lunch and says I gotta go home. He hit $10,000.......not bad for what he put in. LUCKY BASTARD!!!

What great takes and stories.
Everyone has something original to add, all different.
I miss the old coin in coin out machines like Ziggy mentions.
More character holding the money in your hands,, that's what you're there for, money.

I used to play blackjack, roulette, slots. Won and lost at all of them.
About 4 years ago I went to Vegas with a group of friends, one of the guys knew how to play craps really well. I never looked back.
In gambling, I have always won big or lost big. Big to me is $3-500 BTW.
My best day,
I won $2500 once at Frontier in Vegas. That was a fluke, in the right place at the right time. Shooter kept rolling 10 after 10 after 10, like 6-8 times in a row(twice on the hard way). It was unreal, I had money on the front line, money in the hardway, money in the field. After the second win I just let the chips in the field ride. I just kept stacking it up, figured at that point I was just playing with the house's money anyway. Win or lose. The last bet I placed the shooter rolled twelve with AT LEAST $300 in the field. $1200 win. I took that money. Two rolls later he crapped out.
I colored up, tipped the dealers $50, threw the shooter a $100 chip and LEFT.
But I am sure I am even, I don't gamble enough to bother to keep track though.
My game is craps.
