Breaking a drive in the middle of no cell service would, ummm, kinda not be good. Can anyone recommend a decent vhf radio? Thanks alot.

Thats a good deal ,, For a Uniden.
Uniden makes the boards for about 80% of the market. Although not a fan, they're a good bang for the buck :)
For the price I would buy one if I needed one.

It's because it's not a necessity. We have also been hemmoraging cash lately. We agreed on the rules together. From the other side she won't be coming home with something expensive either. We don't have the money we have by winning the lottery. It's by a combination of getting an education and working hard along with being extremely smart with our money. As long as expectations are agreed upon and set beforehand it's all good. How many 26-27 year olds do you know celebration 5 years of marriage with a 17 month old child? Take however long you want to answer that, just let me know by the time we are celebrating our 50th.

sounds good to me if I wake up early enough to be able launch, I will meet you in the secret cove.
or I could just drive down to the channel or the other secret launch ramp.
but I got to get rid of at least 10 of 13 for him or they are going back, that's the deal he offered
I would think that anyone that has been stuck at steamboat would be all over this

I co-sign Cheap Thrills suggestion. You can't go wrong with a Standard Horizon. I would also take a look at what ICOM has to offer. They have a few models with 6 watt output which I think is the highest wattage available in a handheld. http://www.icomamerica.com/marine/ ; http://www.icomamerica.com/products/marine/m72/
