I'm thinking about getting 24's for my infiniti QX56..
I'll be running 305/35/24 tires.
Will I run into problems towing with bigger wheels and such low pro tires?
Anyone else towing with this set up? advise?
thanks guys

If it's a short tow distance I wouldn't be concerned.(Storage to water)
If your towing back and forth from Havasu I would be a little worried about the strength of the wheel with a 6K plus trailer behind you.If you were pulling a 22' Jet I would say go for it but a 27' cobra is a big boat. :)
I think the largest Forged wheel you can get is 22"??

I wouldn't do it.

You also have to think about the tranny. By putting on larger wheels its like having a higher gear which makes it harder for the truck to take off. Its like trying to take off with a 5 speed in 4th gear. Now im not sure how big your wheels were from the begining but if its a great difference you should do some caculations and see if a rear end gear swap will be needed.

Little bit of advice. Have your truck reprogrammed to the new wheel diameter. It affects your RPM's, shifting points and speedometer.
As far as towing with it, I would not tow across the desert with it. I did with 22's and it was a pain in the ass. Braking sucked big time. I had to buy some high performace brakes. Good luck.

Big tires greatly reduce your towing performance, and put a much bigger load on your engine, transmission, rear end and brakes.
Ist gear is like second gear, 2nd gear is like 3rd gear, etc.... :yuk:

I have 5 round trips to and from havi on my 24's with a 8000 lbs boat. No problems yet. My 24 tires read a way higher weight rating than my stocks did. Plus you only have to worry about tong weight and you dont have more than 600 lbs of that.....Get an adjustable hitch and let the air ride do the work.....

I don't think you will have a problem. I have always towed with large wheels and I think they actually do a better job since they have less side wall to flex.
Do it!

I say go for it! Just make sure the wheels and tires are rated at equal or higher load than the stockers. A 24" wheel with a 35 series sidewall is about 32" -33" overall big friggin deal
Watch the pot holes though! I'm sure those wheels aren't cheap :crossx:

In case there is any confusion here, you'll only have a gear problem if the
overall "outside" diameter of the tire is larger than it is now. In other words,
the size of the wheel doesn't matter as long as the overall diameter of the
outside of the tire compensates or offsets any changes. if on the other hand, the entire wheel and tire package is taller then the previous posts
are certainly correct.
I went the other way on my truck running 44 Inch swampers with stock 3.73
gears with a 5 speed. After all these years, Javiers dad got me some 5.36
gears and wow, what a difference that made!
Good luck with your new wheels etc. sounds fun!
