Got a couple quotes for a 160ft 3' high retaining wall/garden wall.
the blocks are the nicer ones that don't need stucco or paint.(Matches my back wall)
the guy said he would do the whole thing for 5K
This includes block, cement, labor and moving a crap load of dirt around the back yard.(Digging out my slope about 5')
The wall will also have 6 colums and a cap that matches.
I have never had a wall buit before but it comes in at about $32.00 a foot.
Thoughts?

If you're dealing with a licensed contractor, I'd say do it! That's a little less then the going price is for a stucco'd retaining wall here. I wouldn't let an unlicensed contractor build any retaining walls though so just make sure.

Don't pay him till he is done, sounds cheap to me. Maybe you should stop hiring illegals. :)

My wife buys block in 6 foot courses at 65 bucks a linear foot so given that your block wall is half the hight you are right on. She buys for a major home builder. This might be a better deal with the hill dig out also.

The guy has done work for my buddy/neighbor and it turned out real nice.
It will not be used to retain anything but he is puring a 13"X13" foundation.
I have no idea if he is legal but he speaks good english drives a F-150 and owns a home in Temecula.
I have called and seen a couple other people. One spoe zero english teh other wanted 10K and most never called back or showed up to bid it.

That's sounds pretty good I paid $35 per ft. for mine in Corona double split faced block. Just make sure he is licensed.

What year F-150, that says a lot. haha
Check his Drivers License, I heard illegals can't get them. (sarcasm)
