Some of you may remember my ex-wife. She had started taking flying lessons about the time our divorce started (2002) and she got her license shortly before our divorce was final, later that same year. Yesterday afternoon, she narrowly escaped injury in the aircraft she was piloting when she was forced to make an emergency landing in Southern Tennessee because of bad weather. Some could call it a crash; an accident at the least. Our kids were with me at the Beach House this weekend.
National Transportation Safety Board officials have issued a preliminary determination citing pilot error contributed to the accident, and Judy was flying a single engine aircraft (a basic model, at best) in IFR (instrument flight rating) conditions while only having obtained a VFR (visual flight rating) rating.
The absence of a post-crash fire was likely due to insufficient fuel on board. No one on the ground was injured.
Photographs below were taken at the scene show the extent of damage to her aircraft.

She needs to wise the F up. Great. Almost put another black eye on General Aviation. So avoidable. I just did my IFR checkride in April, and I still stay the hell away from weather.
Running out of gas it another thing I have vowed not to do. I will plan a hop in between, even if it's only a 3 hour jaunt (I have 5 hrs of fuel). An hour and half to two hours is long enough aloft. One needs to stretch legs, and it's always good to be full of fuel - just in case you have to deviate an hour or two around WEATHER.
Got me too.

Funniest thing I've heard in weeks! Perfect. We call my ex--the plaintiff.
funny over the itercom at work when they say, Keith line 2 it's the plaintiff.
I get some real funny looks and then they bust up laughing.
Thanks for the joke.

Now THATS funny! :rollside:
That reminds me of something that happened to me awhile back. I was seeing this guy for quite a while and he used to talk about his ex wife occasionally and would call her "Blanche". One day his phone rang and he said "grab that for me". So I did. It was the ex. I very politely told him "Blanche is on the phone for you". You should have seen him cringe. I could hear her screaming from the other side of the room at him. He never told me that wasn't her REAL name and she HATED to be called that. :220v: :rollside: She thought I did it on purpose.
