With all the new stuff coming out, I REALLY want a new Chevy, probably a Tahoe though. Unfortunately, the pricing and financing options on all these new vehicles killed the used truck market making it hard jump to take.

What's the EPA city/hwy fuel mileage of that set up - 4x4, of course!

The Mada towing capacity maxes out at 9100lbs, but I know what you me, no way would I tow that much with a 1/2 ton vehicle.

This is a common problem right now...... hopefully GM will do a little better on the financing towards the end of the year.......

At 10,000 LBS most ( I would think) people are useing electronic over hydralic brakes on there trailers and those brakes in connection with the truck brakes should be better than most using just surge brakes on a 3/4 ton..... BUT to answer your question I have not seen the brakes on the new trucks.... I will look into that....

Don't know for sure BUT with my 3/4 ton Sub 4x4 with 4.10 gears I get an average of 11.7 MPG thats with NO Active fuel Mgmt (That should be good for 1.5 MPG at least) and 2500 pounds (aprox.) lighter that should also be good for 2 MPG.....

My computer shows Armada at 9,000 LBS max with 305 HP and 385 ft LBS of torque.....

9,000 for the 4x4, 9,100 for the 4x2, not that it matters. :)

If anyone feels like they absolutely have to have the new 1/2 tons, and need to sell their 03-05 1/2 ton crew cabs, let us know. We are in the market and are actively looking for something. Just can't justify stepping up to an 07.
Jay, thanks for the pm's. Can't see doing an 07 right now. If any used crew cabs come in, we're interested. Thanks again.

That's what I was worried about. Everyone I know with 6.0's are getting in the low teens. I didn't know if the 4-6-8 system would close the gap to the 5.3 mileage.
So, it will be a 5.3 with 3.73 for me!

OK so I didn't know the answer to this and did some investigating as GM calls this (in 07) the Max Trailering pack..... Funny (NHT) the same code in 06 is called Vortec max pkg 6.0L 345 HP 380 FT LBS torque 14 MPG city 17 Hwy.... In 07 (NHT) its called Max Trailering Pkg 367 HP and 375 FT Lbs Torque with Active fuel Mgmt.... Should get better gas mileage..
But to answer your question "Same ordering code same idea but different options"

Haven't heard that BUT I know the 07 Sub Tahoe and Avalanche are designed to accept the Allison...... So I would imagine all 07 silverado will be able to accept it.... BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT FOR SURE

Has anyone on here towed with active fuel managemenet yet? Maybe a tahoe or sub. I am a little old school and I know things are going this way. I am all for improving fuel milage, since I don't think fuel is ever coming back down to what it used to be but I am going to hold off and see how all this pans out. Sounds like a lot more stuff to go wrong in the middle of the desert.

GM should get Froggy's brother to haul an M1 tank behind a Silverado from Miami to LA as a promotional tour.
Does the new style have any more interior room?

It's the same system that if the truck starts to overheat, it defaults the engine to 4 cyls., You can run for hours that way, even if the book says not too.
So it's not-so-new, and it's very reliable.

Chrysler has it with their Hemi . They call it MDS [ multi displacement system] .
Unfortunately the towing capacity is less with this system ,compared to their conventional one ,what I've heard  .
BTW , when Caddy was using a similar system back in the 80's , most peeps disabled it ,cause it had nothing but problems . Hope GM fixed the bugs with this one .

I've gained enough. Now that you bring it up, people have been congratulating me a lot lately.
I don't fit well in the driver side of a standard cab GM pickup. If it was a standard, my knee would hit the dash every shift. The X-cab is a little better but I wouldn't want to sit behind the wheel of a new GM pickup for 100K miles. The head room is adequate, it's the leg room that's lacking.

I've got an 07 Tahoe and when towing it hardly ever goes into the 4 cylinder mode even when towing on flat interstate. Only pulling about 3,000 pounds and stayed in V8 mode. Only averaged 12 mpg on the trip. Love the new rig but think my old Denali had better power and mileage. Denali was 6 liter with 3.73's and Tahoe is 5.3 with 4.10's.
