Tonight for whatever reason was watching Sean Penn being interviewed on Larry King.I was interested in his new movie coming out.Things were going well talking about his career family etc. Then should have know Larry the hard core interviewer he is, as in throwing potato chip questions at people, tossed Penn a marshmellow so he could hit out of the park. Sean what about Iraq? what should we do? Well use your imagination he went on and on.I think he`s a great actor and all, but IMO he`s clueless on foreign affairs and how the military should run the war.The thing that really caught ny attention when he says we need to withdraw with honor as we did in Vietnam.I hate to tell him he had better be very careful where he is if ever uses that statement again. If I go to a concert I don`t want the performers political stand, could not care less I paid to be entertained and tonight was to be about a new movie not how a movie star feels we have failed and we were lied to,on and on.

why should we die giving freedom to people who would rather kill each other? I don't think they are worth the sacrafice. I originaly thought it was a good cause.

My feelings exactly.
I'm beginning to think the same about the people in Iraq, they have all known war their whole lives, seems that they don't want to know anything else.

It is clueless people like you that make this forum fun to read......you will be the first one yelling when something bad happens, yet you have no clue as to the threat or the resolve it takes to keep these cold blooded fanatics away from our way of life....This is a war for what we believe and many have died to defend, don't dishonor it with your uneducated babble.
Go buy your 3 dollar gas and bitch about it....

I am not dishonoring anybody, have I said i don't support our troops in any of my statements? Very far from clueless I have many family members and friends that are in Iraq right now. What I stated was we took the bait hook line and sinker. What is the resolution genius? Don't come on here and call people clueless when you think this wars about $3.00 a gal. gas. By your statements it sounds like you are uneducated. And by the way we are discussing Sean Penn. I think thats what the thread was about.

Your initial statement dishonors those busting their ass looking for Usama right now!! And you dishonor those that died to keep a maniac from acquiring and using WMD's against US.....and yes he had them, yes he would have gotten more and yes he would use them as he had already proven on his OWN people.
Many forget that we had already been deployed for 10+ years with Operations Northern Watch and Southern Watch enforcing a spineless UN. Noone was yelling about the troops being deployed or the countless dollars spent. What we are doing now is dealing with the situation instead of appeasing and pushing it off for our grandkids. Just imagine if we would have continued to appease Hitler. Which we initially did!...and secondly Iraq and Afghanistan have a little country in between them called IRAN with a whacked out view of the world right now. They are the ones we are worried about (due to appeasement, Shah of Iran ring a bell) and what better place to keep them in check from? Take a peak at a globe!!!
I never said this war was about oil, I only refer to it due to the fact that people making statements such as your initial statment usually follow it up with blaming the President for the gas price....is anyone taking out ads thanking the President for the current drop in price! Hence the stupidity of the statements.
I don't know you so I don't have a beef with you, I am sure you are a good dude. But I can tell you I get tired of hearing these uneducated comments that do nothing but give our enemy the will to fight and kill Americans. Ask your buds in the military the only true path to victory in a war.......
Here is a hint: It is the breaking of the will of the people you are fighting that wins wars. When we as a country make comments such as yours and keep second guessing our resolve it does nothing but give the enemy the will to fight!!!!!!! This enemy will come kill you and your family and not bat an eye!!!!
To get back to the thread: I believe it was about Sean Penn running his mouth on Larry King. He and other Hollywood saviours do not understand their "political activities" get GI's killed everyday by giving our enemies more will to fight.
Have a great weekend!

Are you proving that you just run of at the mouth like so many others...here is some education for you and your buddy.
Osama's name is transliterated in many ways. Osama bin Laden is used by most English-language mass media. Government agencies including the FBI and CIA use Usama bin Laden, which is often abbreviated to UBL. Less common renderings include Ussamah Bin Ladin and Oussama Ben Laden (French-language mass media). The latter part of the name can also be found as Binladen or Binladin. Strictly speaking, under Arabic linguistic conventions, it is incorrect to use "bin Laden" in a similar manner as a Western surname. His full name means "Osama, son of Mohammed, son of 'Awad, son of Laden". However, the bin Laden family (or "Binladin," as they prefer to be known) generally use the name as a surname in the Western style. Although Arabic conventions dictate that he be referred to as "Osama" or "Osama bin Laden", using "bin Laden" is in accordance with the family's own usage of the name and is the near-universal convention in Western references to him.

What my initial point was is that, in my opinion rather then trying to police and rebuild a country, #1 we should rebuild our own example Katrina torn Louisianna. #2 lets put all not just special but all forces hunting down Bin Laden. Very simple. I can't wait for the day when Bin Ladens life less body is on the front of every newspaper around the world, rather then how many of our troops were killed trying to do good for a country that hates us.

#1- Louisiana state and local government f$$@#$@# that whole thing up. They simply failed to get the people out and then blamed the Feds, grant it all levels need work to include the FEDs but hell everyone has known for a VERY long time that Cat 3 or higher storm deadon into New Orleans could be a disaster of gigantic proportions....We are rebuilding New Orleans, it will take time!!!!
#2- Hence the need for better intelligence, which this administration is urgently fighting to attain. Human intelligence takes time. I mean look at LA, it takes time to infiltrate a gang to get the bad guys, Radical Islam groups are 1,000 times tougher to penetrate. Crawling through bushes will not get this guy.....an intillegence tip will....phone call, tip, close associate turning on him....then we will have him....I have been to Iraq and I assure you that not all Iraqi's hate America.
#3- Losing one person is not good, however, the death toll is VERY VERY low given the battle we have waged...Ask any CINC if for what we have done over the last 3-4 years would he take that casualty number, I assure you he will say yes....Many have lost their lives to protect our way of life, to give up now would dishonor them.
Cheers!

I am far from a hater.....finger pointing is easy, having a solution gets the job done...we sat back for far to long and look what happened, appeasement will get you killed.
And as far as stopping the violence; look at our own major cities as an example that it is a VERY difficult task...

I was waiting for talk radio to get to Penn today, it was all over the place. There are many who feel just because you are a star you don`t have the knowledge to U.S. politics.George Clooney was talked about also.I would love to see an interview between Bill O`Reilly and Sean Penn.

When Sean Penn gets wound up, I always wish the interviewer would ask him about the time he went out to lunch in Berkeley, and somebody stole his Buick Grand National with two handguns in it.
I've never laughed at another man's problems, but Sean Penn + a muscle car + two guns + Berkeley never added up for me.
Berkeley can be an edgy place, but I've never felt the need to pack while out to dinner...

WOW.... I agree with Old Texan... socaldecal You just had your ass handed to you.. I might be a little bias but Heater has spent two (2), yes two tours in Iraq and other surounding contries. You (ZERO) but you will use the "I got family" line to lagitamize your opinion. You have probably never spent a day in ANY military, although you enjoy all the freedoms that all of US that have served protect. You, socaldecal, are probably a good guy, but you have insulted many by you comments. Maybe you will understand the reality of the WORLD'S situation when you lose one of the people you love to a spinless suicide bomer or an IED. Then again you would probably blame President Bush for fighting this war on another continent. Maybe the war should be HERE in the good ole USA.
