Looking at toy haulers.........question is, my Sub can tow (per the manual) 8400. Now.......the toy haulers says it's Gross Dry Weight is 6585 (dry weight says it's 5585). If I put two ATV's and a small Buggy in the toy hauler.......will my Sub be over the weight limit for towing?

Don't forget the weight of everything else you are going to pack for a weekend also. Food, fuel and supplies add to the weight. Sounds like you might be getting close to the 8400.

The trailer should have a GVWR which is the gross weight of all the stuff plus the trailer. Should be able to find it easily on the web based on the make/model.

Here is the sticker from my little TT. It explains all the ratings:

I have a Suburban and regardless of the weight they are gutless when it comes to pullin. I can only imagine what a dog it would be pulling a toy hauler.
My next truck will be a diesel, I have been holding out waiting for Chevy to come out with a Suburban with a Diesel, but that anent ever going to happen any time soon.

Which model suburban is it. My wifes 3/4 ton 2500 Suburban has the 8.1L 496, and tows like 10,500 max. Weve towed our toy box with it no problems, and fully loaded its probably 7000 lbs. It will never tow like a deisel, but then again, try finding a vehicle that can seat up to 8, doesnt have to be driven very often(diesels need to be drivin or else they take a dump), $20 oil changes, $2.50 gal gas and tow 10k...only the 3/4 ton burb, which they dont make anymore ive heard.

I'll stick with the Excursion, It damn near lays rubber with a toybox on it - then again it's a diesel (I won't own anything else).

Okee.........I read the post. I'm not as close, or past, the limit. My TH will way about 6585 with water and gas. With ATV's......another 1400. So am at less than 8000. So I'm about 400 under...........but I think a new TV will be forth coming.

I can answer this, I had a sub with a 5.3 and 373 rear, my tt weighed 6200 pounds empty. My sub would pull it....barely...needless to say I called Jay and had him deliver a 3/4 ton with a 6.0 problem solved. That is too much weight for your sub it might pull it a little, but you will be very unhappy and unsafe. By the way if you overload your tow vehicle and get into an accident, it is a bad scene.
