well the "formal living room" is going to be the entertainment room at my house... dont feel like buying couches that I'll never sit on. there's two options I can go with.... A) pool table and chairs with pub tables.... or B) a bar with stools.. punb tables.. lounge chairs.. and maybe a foozeball (sp?) table. just looking for some feedback on what you guys think would be a better setup / provide the best times? :)

We have a smalllish sized fooseball table and its good fun too. I was always hoping to get some vintage arcade games. I heard they had one at Costco with a bunch of games in it for like $1800.....

measure the room to make sure it's big enough though. Take the measurements that you'll get online and add an extra foot or so to make sure you have room to stroke the cues off the end rails.

By the way, get a nice playing table setup by a good table mechanic. It doesn't have to be the most expensive table in the world to be commercial grade and setup nice. Lighting is also important. Don't buy a bangers table, you'll regret it in the long run if you plan on playing alot and or taking the game seriously later.

I'm sure there's guy on here that are better then me.. I know JetBoatGuru could probably give me the 8 ball and whip my ass. Or atleast he used too. Funny thing about pool, players come from all walks of live, and different backgrounds. I met a gizillionaire once that happened to be an "A" player, and I've straight drilled guys that came into my pool room to "hustle." Never know what's around the corner in that game.. LOL That's what makes it so fun.
If I have my way, RiverDiva will be on the Women's pro tour in the next couple years.. :)

Those videos are classic RD.
Pool table in the middle of the room. Reggae playing in the back ground and he is shooting pool in socks.
Control and ball speed looks good. I can't tell if you have a jerky stroke or the camera is playing games.
I have always been decent at pool and will shoot a good game and then play horrible 10 minutes later.
I have always been a killer at Ping Pong :crossx:

Get an electric and real dartboard. Dartboards don't take up an space and many can play at one time.

Gameroom options are endless. There are so many different variations. We've had a arcade style gameroom for over 15yrs and it never gets old. If you're in SoCal I can give you a name and number to a great gameroom dealer. Here's what we wnt with in our Havasu home. Pooltable, JVL Bar style touchscreen game, Arcade ledgends with 164 games so far and a Stern Nascar pinball.
Hope this gives an idea, options are endless when making a gameroom.

I had a friend that was a dealer for leisure world for a long time.. They make a decent table that won't break the bank. Olhausen has so many cheap to epensive options it's ridiculous..
Just don't by anything chinese made (and don't listen to the olhausen dealer when he tells you that everything else is chinese made)
PM me if you need some advice when your getting close to buying. I can tell you some of the pro's n cons.

we've got a "bonus room" upstairs that's like 13'x24' which I pondered the same thoughts you're having. We went with the pool table right in the middle, 7' oak bar on one end of the room w/ oak stools, lounge couch on the other, full surround w/ two subs in opposite corners that shake the roof, and TV/DVD/VCR on a wall mount near the ceiling usually running crusty vids or boat racing (of course). Never had so much fun when the crew is over. Pool tables are a total blast....even though I suck and lose 50% of the time.
My recommendation is go pool table and bar or pub tables if you've got the space for both. Many a blackjack hand played at the bar and the house typically wins. :D

Thanks RD. Just saw this post. I went to the Olhausen dealer but ended up ordering a pool table, bar, pup table and chairs from Billiards and Barstools in San Juan Capistrano. I was really impressed with the guy that was going to do the install. Hopefully this will end up being a wise choice.
Damn, this thread ended up costing me some coin.
