Hey Thor,
Do you have to buy new? It seems that there are some killer deals on 2-3 yo rigs coming up.

The only thing is, I will finance a portion to get the write off. And no, I do not have to have new.

Thanks, but I really dont want a diesel or the washer/dryer. I am more of a 'dry' camper in the winter. Hookups in the summer at Havi. :)

Only thing I will need is the pics and the towing capacity. I need the 5K towing capacity.

Go to Giant RV in montclair and talk to Frankie he's the man your lookin for. They get alot of trades and inventory for them for a short time. Then I think they all end up in AZ. at the auctions. I would tell them exactly what you want and want to spend and have them call you when they come thru.

Its very hard to get good towing capacity in mohos without going deisel...if you think about it, its the same v-10 for a ford, or 496 8.1 for chevy thatthey put in trucks, and those have a 10k towing max. Once you take into account how heavy mohos are fully loaded with food, water, etc...you dont have much to spare on the gvwr. Anyone else have any experiences towing a big boat with a non deisel moho?

I've seen f-450 and f-550 logos on some calss C mo ho's. My old '90 class C with a 460 was rated at the hitch at 3500 lbs. My boat all loaded was alot closer to 5000 and no issues at all; in fact it stopped alot better with the surge from the trailer adding to the overall effect.
I was over the gcvw, but at 60 mph not alot goes on...

If your in calif, remember there is a 65 ft limit.. I had a 32 class A and my boat trailer was 32, so I was ok with 454 in it it pulled my howard great, no issues whatsoever. sometimes im sorry i sold it but was an 89 and a guy offered me more then I figured it was worth.
Most deisels come only in 36 ft and up or else they are small desiels you probably wouldnt want.. just keep in mind what your towing....
twinmach26dcb here on boards has an awesome desiel pusher for sale, may be outa yor price range but its very very nice and almost new... worth a check with him...

The Class A rating is slightly different than the Class C rating. Different chassis too.

Try Craigslist. I just picked up a 2000 36ft Holiday Rambler diesel pusher with only 26k on it for $45,000. It's a clean unit. You want to check the mfg rating for towing. Just because a motor home has a diesel does'nt mean you can tow a lot of weight. mine is rated at 400 tongue weight 4,000 gross. This is not an issue for me as my enclosed trailer with my race boats weight less.
Good luck on your search.

Get a Rambler or other aluminium sided rig... Fiberglass wall delamination sucks and is expensive to fix correctly....
Definitely check the tow ratings, some of the diesel pushers won't pull squat, others are rated at 10000 lbs...

If you want to tow a BIG boat you need a diesel. I have a 2004 Itasca Sunova 35 ft MH with a 20,000 GVWR and 6000 lb tow rating. It has the 8.1 L GM with an Allison trans. I towed my MBZ Wagon on a trailer behind it for about 8000 miles. The whole rig must have been close to the 6000 lb limit anyway, it was so sluggish and hard to handle I gave the car to my son, donated the trailer to a charity and got a Chevy Cavalier (2000 lbs) to flat tow on a tow bar. I can barely tell the car is back there now.
Before you buy check out the GVWR and the tow rating. As someone said earlier, if you carry a lot of stuff around in your MH you may be damn close to the limit or even over it.
You can pick up some pretty good bargains on used MH, but frankly the best bargains are new ones in the middle of the winter bought for cash. I bought mine at K & C RV in Longmont Colorado even though I was living in Bozeman MT at the time. I bought it in December and paid cash and got a $16,000 discount. That's about 16% under the sticker price. No mortgage. OF course if you don't have that kind of cash laying around then you have to look for cheap financing. Credit Unions seem to have the best deals on financing.
One other item, ask if it has a TV monitor on the rear. If not, get one. I can see the car and the traffic behind me. I can't see the car in the mirrors, because it is so small. This way if you have a disaster like a blow out, or a cover flying off, or whatever, you can see it before it causes an accident.
