It works for the DIY'r , but is in noway a professional tool...I'd rather have a nice 80.00 butane soldering gun by weller(sp)...

I used mine to fix my car when I was caught in a blizzard. It saved my life, took only seconds, and cost only pennies!

Can I make 3 monthly installments of just 19.99? Any free stuff come with that deal? Swampland?

Are you sure it wasn't when you penis got stuck to the frozen flagpole and you used it to thaw yourself away from the pole?

The good news.... I paid way less than the asking price on tv.
The bad news.... thanks for the good news because the damn thing hardly works. Only once have I been able to get it to melt solder and that just made one drop and fell on the work bench looking like malnutritioned BB......

I should mention the time I used my Cold Heat soldering tool to repair my grandfather's pacemaker. In just moments, I opened him up, restarted his heart with a battery from my video poker game, repaired the pacemaker, and closed him back up with duct tape. Not only did I save his life, but I was never in danger of burning myself! http://www2.***boat.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif
I'll never use a conventional hot soldering iron again! :D

Actually he's not that great. I knew something was wrong when he wasn't doing any of his tells. That's why I opened him up and fixed up his ticker.

I am sure you could use it in case your wire came loose....

I've got one. Tried it and couldnt get the wires hot enough to have the solder stick no matter what I tried. Like Roz said the butane solder torch is the bomb!

Very weak. We tried it in our production room. We were not at all happy with it. For emergencies it might work well but, for prolonged use, no.

Yes but space is very cold and is a vacuum. Ask Tom Brown. I believe he was a satellite repair man as well as spent time on SkyLab.

That thing suxs!! I have one over here and tried to use it when my butane one ran out of fuel. I couldn't get it to work. I had to fly with the broken wire to a compound close enough were a soldier filled up my butane one and I was able to make the temp reapir. What a waste of cash that thing was! :yuk:

The cold heat that I have stated 18ga wire or smaller. It works good for the tiny shit, but as mentioned is hard pressed to get anything auto or boat related hot enough to tin the wire...............I was able to splice some speaker wire with it...........MP

Home Depot sells the thing now, and I have almost bought it a few times. Every time I read the package, I tell myself, "BULLSH*T" Seeing the posts here makes me believe it, at least the three of them that actually bought one.
I suppose I'll stick with my Blue Point Butane, that will damn near solder a copper pipe!

My dipstick neighbor bought one at a garage sale and came bragging. I watched him try and solder 2 small wires to no avail. I bet you him you could get the wires hotter by rapidly rubbing them together. He went home with his tail 'tween his legs......again :rollside:
