There is about a 95% chance I will be moving up to southern OR ( bend area) this spring. I have a uncle that moved up there about 7 years ago and never looked back. I have been up several times, I just love it. Plus the the cost of living is about 20% less then it is here...

Great Pics !
I've always loved the North West (Oregon & Washington) nothing like seeing ice formations on the roadside waterfalls surrounded by Aspen Pines in the middle of July. Beautiful !

Traci , beautiful shots . Like the dunes more in oregon than what I saw at Glamis . Running on the beach beats the desert heat IMHO :p . I'm more used to cooler weather that's a big deciding factor too .

RD, the first one is Crater Lake National Park and the only boats on it are Tour Boats.
The other lake, not sure of the name but I saw a few wakeboard boats out there.

Before any of you decide to make the move to Oregon or Washington, come visit in Jan/Feb. On the west side of the mountains, the sun goes away in November and does not come back untilk sometime in June, if you are lucky. On the East side, it gets very cold from Oct to Mar and just cold into June but, they do get a lot more sun on that side of the mountains. It is bad enough that I am moving to Az, even though I was born in Spokane and have lived in the Portland area for most of the last 45 years.
I will say though, there is no place better than the NorthWet in the summer when the sun finally does come out. That time of the year can only be described as "Glorious".

Here in the valley the sun goes away in about Nov and I have to deal with FOG. Absolutely hate that shiat. Its depressing and dangerous as hell to drive in. We got more than our fair share of rain last year with something ridiculous like 28 straight days of DOWNPOUR. I really miss AZ in the winter but Im used to our summers here now. Anything more than a visit in the summer would give me a meltdown LOL.

Traci, looks cool.
Did you get to ride the dunes?
The Driftwood II campground just north of Reedsport is our favorite.
The dunes at Winchester Bay are the biggest.
We found a little fresh seafood store at the south end of Florence that had very fresh crab, scallops, etc. That place was AWESOME. All of us spent about $40.00 on fresh seafood, and went back to camp and cooked up a huge buffet. I will never forget that.
We are thinking about a trip up there for a week early next fall, by then I will probably have some sort of low-key dune transportation of my own again.. :)

Wasn't trying to get on your case Her454, just trying to balance things out a bit. A lot of people from south of the california border, even those from the central/northern California area, have moved to the North Wet and left depressed because of the weather. You said it rained there for 28 days straight like that is unusual. That happens damn near every winter here. The sun will come out for a few (usually 3-4) days most winter months and we only get about 37 inches of rain but it takes all winter and spring to get it.
Probably the biggest source of winter drepression is that you go to work in the dark and you come home in the dark from mid-Nov to seems like Feb. The days get really short and seem to take forever to get back to where you actually see light during your daily commute.
But, if one can deal with that, there is no better area during the summer when the weather finally comes around in mid-Jul through early Sept. (Yeah, that's right, about 2 maybe 2 1/2 months!)
Maybe I'm just fed up and bitter?? I hope not.....

I lived 30 miles south of Crater Lake when I was a kid. We got snow one year on the 4th of July (it didn't stick, but it still snowed! ). Snowed almost every halloween and easter. The west side of the mountains get rain, the east side gets snow. We weren't even that high of altitude (4100 feet). It is beautiful though. Thanks for the pics, Traci. I think the lake is O'dell lake. At least that is a lake there on the 58 between C.L and Roseburg. Beautiful drive. Were the wild rhododendrons in bloom?

I didnt really see anything in bloom but I was concentrating on all the lakes and how many times I crossed the fricking Umpqua River. Seems like I drove over it 50 times in two days!
It is beautiful thats for sure.........
