I had a computer crash a few months ago, and my dumb ass never backs anything up!! So I have a hard drive with hundreds and hundreds of pictures on it, everything from baby pictures to river trips and lots of memories. I have tried having the hard-drive hooked up as a slave drive on 2 different computers and nothing has been able to read it. It has never been dropped in water or anything and the disk still spins it just is having a problem reading.
I would really really really like to have these pictures back and if anyone knows of a means of doing it without having to pay the $1800 people are telling me it could potentially cost, I would be forever indebted.

Check out this software. I had my drive crash and was able to recover everything. You can DL the software for free and it will tell you if/what it can recover. It was something like $80 and it saved my a$$.

Does yourbios recognize the drive and you just cant read it? If the drive spins up I can recover what you lost.

If you absolutely have to have your data back this is the company that will get it for you.(http://www.drivesavers.com/) I have used many times and they have never failed to retrieve the info needed, right down to pulling the platters and reading them with another device, that is used in cases of head crashes. Their prices have a wide range depending on how fast you need it back and what you want retrived, the biggest charge is if the drive is formated NTFS verses FAT32.
Good Luck.....

We can do it at my work, but unfortunately its expensive and I can't get any deals. If its minor, we do it in house for $250. After that we send it to Data Mechanics in Irvine, they have a clean room and take apart your whole HD, but it is upwards of $1500. Hopefully you can find someone here to do it for cheaper or a case of beer. It usually is a fairly easy process with the right software.

Check PM's, thanks for all the assistance!!
I dont know much about bios or anything like that. I know the drive worked fine 1 min, I ran a pc cleaner program to clean out temp. int. files, cookies, etc., after restart it never worked again. I hear it spin which leads me to believe it could be a physical problem. Hopefully its something easy, I'll give one of the data recovery programs a shot and if not, I'll be contacting you guys to help. I'm sure you can all imagine how important all of your pictures are. I have baby pics, boat rebuilding pics, river trip pics, vacation, you name it. Thanks again for the help guys !
