View Full Version : Car Pulled In front Of me on the way home

I was traveling down a main street, when a guy in a BMW roadster pulled out in front of me. Not much I could do, considering he was following another car which I avoided. I was traveling at 60 mph, the sheriff said I had 40 feet to react by the skid marks. Luckily no one was killed and we were able to walk away. Paramedics checked me out and I did not want a ride in the ambulance, my wife came and took me to the ER. The air bag explosion burnt my arm, sore back and arm :yuk:
Ripped my front tire off the truck

The other guy jumped out of his car and ran down the street yelling he was sorry and it was all his fault  he told the sheriff he does not know how he did not see me
Another car was in front of him, which made me slow down, he must of thought it was safe and pulled out :yuk:

Its actually 21801 of the California Vehicle Code
21801. (a) The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left or to complete a U-turn upon a highway, or to turn left into public or private property, or an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction which are close enough to constitute a hazard at any time during the turning movement, and shall continue to yield the right-of-way to the approaching vehicles until the left turn or U-turn can be made with reasonable safety.
(b) A driver having yielded as prescribed in subdivision (a), and having given a signal when and as required by this code, may turn left or complete a U-turn, and the drivers of vehicles approaching the intersection or the entrance to the property or alley from the opposite direction shall yield the right-of-way to the turning vehicle.

Good question  seat belt seemed to hold me away from the air-bag  The air-bags explosion burnt my arm pretty good :yuk:
Considering the angle we hit :yuk: it may not have been a huge factor in me, but the other guy had a smaller vehicle and probably saved him from major injuries
After hitting the vehicle, I went into on coming traffic :yuk: luckily no other collisions, then the air bag may have been a factor.

Was this on M and Challenger???I can't see the pics, but I think I drove by, after it happend, on my way home. I didn't see you, but I saw a creamed BMW, a pick up and a bunch of cops. Sure am glad to hear you are ok. I can't see the pics you posted, but your discription sounds like what I saw the aftermath of.

The other guy jumped out of his car and ran down the street yelling he was sorry and it was all his fault  he told the sheriff he does not know how he did not see me
Another car was in front of him, which made me slow down, he must of thought it was safe and pulled out :yuk:
He restored the outside of his car himself a couple years ago
Glad you are ok! Been there baby! You have got a long haul to fix your truck. :rollside: Keep your chin up!

Kiler, Kiler, Kiler
I just did 60-0 in 124ft in the Falcon this weekend, Ford GT got me by 1' at 123', and it didn't take no 177' for me to step on the pedal. better check the copyright on that text book,, I bet it says 1940 something :rollside:
BTW Rich I am glad your ok,
I know how much a combined 95mph head on impact hurts (with no air bag), and I am reminded of that impact with every step I take, I am thinking your very sore about now, take the next week easy and pay attention to every sound your body makes, some injuries take up to 5yrs to reveal themselves.
once again I am glad your ok, that was a nasty hit
:coffeycup :D :hammer2:

Might have. Like I said, I didn't see him there. Didn't get a good look at it as I went by. I try to not slow down too much to check out accidents. I hate looky-loos.

Oh crap! I drove by at about 6:00 (I think). Damn! If I had seen you, I would have stopped for sure, to see if you needed anything. The main thing I noticed was the creamed beemer and all the cops. Like I said, I try not to be a looky-loo. I guess this time I should have been. Most of all, I'm glad you arn't badly injured and it wont be your fault.
