If a plane is cruising at 300 MPH and there is a fly in the cabin flying toward the front of the plane at 5 MPH, is the fly flying at 5 MPH or 305 MPH?

he would be flying at 5MPH
but if he was going in a circle he would be moving forward at 300mph twice per revolution 305 once and 295 once per Revelation

He would be moving at 305mph in relation to the ground (gps speed). The fly is only providing 5mph of that. Kind of like Jetboat running dowriver. The boat only provides a small portion.

What if the plane is on a treadmill and the fly is on a treadmill inside the plane, will the fly be able to take off?
