327, 454, 496, 396, 427, 350, 455...
Does anyone else have a trigger click off in their head when they see these numbers on something? Like on a phone number or a combination to a lock?
It is just funny I guess, but anything that comes up with a combination equaling a common displacement for a Chevy motor just gets remembered.
That and ordinance. I seem to have no problem remembering 45, 357, 306, 226, 556, 762, etc...
I know some people are that way with planes too.... 602, 202, 727, 757, 747 etc...

Ive always been good with remembering numbers. Once write them down they are imbedded in my pornographic memory.
I still feel odd that can remember the VIN #'s on all my vehicles.

Hmmm... You know that Trident owns a Superstar 700, right? I think that is what it is. My dad uses it to commute to Trident from Sonoma. He also flies around a Giles 202.
That thing frickin cooks by the way. Cruising down here over 220 one day airspeed. 1:45 from north of San Francisco. I can't find any pics of it though... just the Giles.

All of those and more, Dodge, Ford, metric crap, musical instrument bores, guitar string gauges, phone #s, bullets and calibers. As long as the number relates in a meaningful way.
Yeah, tell me about it. Sometimes it is like a scene from "A Beautiful Mind" going off in here...
It actually is a little disturbing the logic trail I can run down to remember stuff, or to demand a recall of some pertinent information. I tend to really remember the ones that relate to the CID's of engines though.

I didn't know that... but figured you must have been around one if you knew what a 602 was. I always liked the 600s because they have the normally aspirated engines, and still go over 200 kts...
Is it a Superstar conversion, or is it one of the Piper factory 700s?? I worked on a 700 Superstar in ABQ and got to go on a few test flights... "haul ass" is to put it mildly...

I think it is factory. Turbocharged, pressurized etc... If it isn't factory, it looks factory. Plus, he put a glass dash in it so everything is pretty pimped out. Still some regular gauges, but it has one of those new nav systems with all of the stuff plumbed into it...

Froggy, I have that imprint too.
It is multi-brand, any American Iron from the golden age.
As long as it is CID and not liters, or litres, or whatever the hell they are using today, I am fine.
I got so wrapped up building the last small block that I had bore-stroke rod length numbers in my head. got the short block sorted out and then the heads started screwing with me. I had flowbench numbers and chamber volumes and static comp. ratios in the old single-cell thought I was gonna explode.
Yup 18436572. The problem with having that locked up in my head is when I start setting up a Vertex with that bizzare cap deal. :)

Well, the 306 was supposed to have another zero, but was shortened for "three-digitizing" but the 226 is from a Sig Sauer that we were forced to learn and carry.
Lots of our combos in the teams revolved around ordinance numbers of some sort, including 1947 and 1974... figure those ones out Rio. :D (I know it's easy, just throwing your a bone...)
