My buddy just got the CLS500 Coupe. That thing is bitchin...Did some computer work and other performance mods put some new 22inch black rims with the 4inch chrome lip and damn...they really set it off....gets looks everywhere. Awesome features.
Both of those models are sicks as well.

Go with the CLS amg I have driven them all and my buddy owns the CLS amg in my mind for the price it is a unbelievable..

500 or 550 would be normal 5.0 or 5.5 liter.
55 would be AMG, supercharged.
The sedan is my new favorite car. I really like the styling. Lots of them at SEMA.
Then, of course, there is the BRABUS edition.

AMG is making their own engine now, I saw an e-series wagon with it, E63, I would wait until you can get the CLS with the 63 instead of the 55, its non supercharged and you can use the 7 speed tranny. Ask AMG if they will be coming out with it. Still over 500hp.

Go and check out Brabus, right next to John Wayne Airport. Fletcher Jones MBZ is right down the street. Finish at Laguna Niguel MBZ, I beleive Dossanger works there. After a long, hard day of test driving cars, you will have to hit up the "The Bungalow" at Corona Del Mar for dinner.

Yea they don't make the CLS 55 anymore, it is now a CLS 63... which btw is siiiiick! the 550 is nice though too... obviously a lot more money for the amg... i think it's worth it though

Drove an E55 once and it was Off the Hook... Very impressed 496hp SC. Just kept pulling. If you got the $$$$ this would be the way to go.

You are exactly right when you say its a four door coupe and that is what they call it. IMO there is not a driving experince like it in the price range. Make sure you ride in the one that has the seats that adjust to your body when your hitting the corners at 130mph. I also read where someone said Fletcher Jones that is the spot they have alot of nice rides there. My boss just got a s550 beautiful car lots of room but I would rather roll the cls amg 55. Good luck..

I've driven the older CL in the past and it is what made me decide one day I would own a Mercedes. I wish I would have know Doss worked at Laguna Niguel Mercedes. I have a client who is a service tech at Fletcher Jones and picked his brain before buying the wife a CLK 500. It's always good to have second opinions from guys who see these cars on a daily basis.

The 55 is a supercharged 5.5 liter that has performance adds throughout. Huge cross drilled front and rear rotors w/ I believe 8 piston calipers, in front. Bigger wheels, slightly lower ride height. Much better handling suspension and 0 to 60 just above 4 seconds. 1/4 mile time 12.4 seconds. I had an 03 SVT Cobra that, from a roll, would run side by side with last years Z06 Corvette all day long. I raced an E55, which is basically the same car as the CLS 55 and got smoked. The 55's are amazing cars, but pricey

I have the 2006 cls500 and wished now to have taken the extra major step for the amg. Its got to be the best cruiser to the river I've ever been in. Still raced a new mustang gt on rice rd a fewe times and saw he disapear in the rearveiw miiror.And it gets 26 mpg.

The VP of our company has the CLS55 amg. He had CEC in South Bay do a few engine/suspension mods and is getting 500+HP. His buddy has a new Viper and he says the CLS puts the hurt on his Viper everytime......Thats damn impressive for a 4 door Benz. Bitchin car.

Been looking myself. Dealer in Vegas not friendly price wise. In the past we used to buy trucks in either St George, UT or Kellogg, ID (truck headquarters!) May take a shot up there. Convinced the '07 CLS 55 is the way to go

As has already been said, The CLS 55 is old news. The CLS 63 is the one to get! The only reason I haven't seen it in person yet is because I've been off work for over a year (bike accident, I was in service at Fletcher Jones) but I've been waiting for that new AMG motor! 6.3L, 4 valve Non supercharged engine making something like 510hp and 630ft/lbs of torque! I gotta think It's better than the 55 but I'll reserve judgment until I drive it. It's just that the AMG technology blows me away and the 6.3 (really a 6.2) is a purpose built, high performance engine. Way-cool IMO. I'll bet Fletcher Jones in Newport and Mercedes of Laguna Niguel have them on the lot!

CLS is one of the best looking cars in the world.
Once you get past the looks you'll see a E-class chassis, sky-high price, and very questionable quality. Don't even think about owning a Benz without a warranty. :cry:

We are on our third MB and have never had a hint of a problem with any of them. The wofe drives a CLS 500 and loves it. I wish I had gotten the bigger motor but it wasn't out when we bought this one...

funny subject my best friend has the s550 sic ,sic ,sic but just yesterday i seen a amg65(might be wrong on the #'s) twin turbo v12 @ a shop down the street it got tu-toned silver and black and it had black 22's on it..i pumped the owner up to stomp on it and daaamn that thing was a blurrrrrrrrrrrrr and then it was gone...that high end benz is da chit!

whatever you do dont get anything with the 722.9 (7 speed transmission). I am a mercedes tech and these transmissions still have a lot of issues with them. benz wasnt even putting the 7 speed transmissions in most amg cars because they are not as strong.

I think the 7-speed tranny is standard in all the Benzes or is it? What other tranny is available?

The 7 speed isnt strong enough for the 55 AMG's ,they get the 5 speed instead.The N/A 63 motors get the 7 speed.
I'd get the CLS55 over any 63 models.I chose the E55 over all of them though.

I can watch the AMG videos on youtube all day long........there's something to be said for a sedan where you can drop the kids off for school and then head straight to the strip.
If things go right this year, I'll be upgrading to my dream car (within reality), an E55. Fawk I love the E55's...
