I am seriousely contemplating getting out of my ford truck since the 08's are getting to be just as much as a fully loaded Denali. Just wondering how they tow and handle the road.

Denali does not come in 3/4 ton nor does it have diesel. So depends on what you are going to tow.

I got one for my wife. It is a huge pile of junk. It is going into the service department for the second time and only has 4000 miles on it.

With our 07 XL Denali ,I just towed my 10,500 lb Hallett (w/ about 2k lb worth of shiat in it)home from LHC -300 miles. It actually felt stronger than my 05 duramax I just sold. In tow/haul it shifts down like the allison did. Powerwise, it was impressive also. Ran very strong. When braking, you just have to be careful and give yourself good distance, but again I was towing frikkin 3k over the rating.
Hell of a rig, My 01 was the same way. Id of bought a new burb, but All wheel drive is the ticket,- zero boat ramp slip.

Never Satisfied

If the Denali felt stronger than your 05 duramax then there is a huge difference between the 05 and the 06. My 06 duramax will beat the shit out of my guttless Denali. I am so unhappy with the Denali I am hoping I have to take it in one more time so I can lemon law the P O S.

Talk to Badfish II over at LVHB (http://lasvegas***boats.com/forum) . He has one and pulls HD's old boat (29' Alandra) with it.

No Shiat!
I didnt realize how much that pig weighed until I scaled it after we had already made the trip. Hallett boys told me it was 8000 lbs or so. I took it to the scales and on trailer w/ 1/2 tank of fuel it was 10,300! Good thing I had a 15k hitch put on it -or who's to say if that even made a differrence?
Regardless, it handled the trip back effortlessly- never did anything weird stopping or going- stayed under 65 mph if that matters.

The 08 Ford truck I just priced is right at $60k. Diesel is $.45 more a gallon.... I drove the 07 Denali today. PLENTY of power and a great warrenty. Talk about quiet....damnnnnnn.

Check the tow rating on the tow vehicle, weigh your boat with trailer, full fuel and all the crap we all carry around in our boats (food, safety equipment, ice chests, beer, stereo, etc) and then make sure you are at least 500 lbs below the max tow rating (1000 lbs below is better).
It's not a matter of power, it's the frame, brakes, and tranny..
Oh, and "No Regrets", you can't really put a 15k hitch on a 1/2 ton truck.
Just my .02......it's your family in their, I would error on the side of safety.

I think my boat/trailer is about 6000lbs. If that is not right someone please correct me. The Denali is rated at 7900. If these numbers are correct I would be ok. I am not looking at hauling 10 or 15000lbs anywhere. If I was I would get another 120 Freightliner. I am only 45 minutes from the lake..... 2-3 times a week for 4-5 months.... thats pretty light duty..IF my number are right.

Sounds like you are fine....I would still take the boat/trailer to a weigh station and weigh it before you buy a new truck...

I tow with mine, no problem. Love it, love the tranny as well. It has plenty of power to pull my 28' Magic.
Go for it NB..

I am debating between the King Ranch and the Harley Davidson model. But yes, its an 08 F350 Crew cab, FX4, 8' bed, It has a big package that includes the Navigation and the new stereo with sub they have coming out...... other than that it has every option except clearence lights (gay) on it.

We sure like our Yukon XL. 1/2 ton and the small 5.3 is definitely down in power from the 5.7 Vortech it replaced. Has pulled boats to shows an made a few trips west without issue.
The seats are comfortable, just Saturday I did the last +1000 mile jaunt home stopping twice for gas, food, and drainage.
I considering a new one but I'm concerned with all the extra plastic and electronic trinkets on the Denali. I'll bet you could go to the dealer with a problem in the stereo, nav, or backup camera and easily end up paying over a grand for the repair.
How is resale going to be like when you 4-5 yr old auto is filled with out of date and unusable electronics. A lesson learned on my 98 BMW 540i, the integrated (Analog) phone has been unsued since 2000. Good thing I didn't go with their Nav system that totally screwed up with dash layout.
