I have recently bought a nordic jetboat(picklefork tunnel hull)I have a 396 motor thats bored .060 over and I noticed the pistons have alittle slop in the cylinder! My question is,would I be able to have this block bored to a .060 over 402? Is this even possible?
The block casting number is 3855961, any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks
David

I would post this in gearheads for better responses;)
The answer would be yes you can bore it .060 over. Cubes = HP!!
I would see if they make a stroker kit while your in there.

Some of the early (65) blocks were able to take a 427 bore. I have a 396 with a .040 402 piston and it works fine. Get the block sonic tested for core shift. If it checks out good go for it.

If you can, bore it to a 427, stick a 4" stroke crank in there, and you'll have yourself a 454 (aka 427 stroker lol)!!!

How much slop? Measure the pistons, and measure the bore. Marine applications like a little more clearance than street motors. You may be alright...........MP
PSS: Speed D, open up your contact info so you can recieve PMs???
PS: You may save yourself alot of $ and grief by finding a decent 454 block and starting over.........
