I just got my 06 Dodge 2500 4x4 Quad Cab w/ Cummins loaded with everything. Absolutely GREAT. Doing 4 " lift, 35's, fender flairs etc next week. You might want to check this one out http://www.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102991 It wasn't one the market when I decided to buy new. I drove all 3 (Chevy, Ford & Dodge) on the same route. My Ratings:
Power: Dodge, Ford, Chevy
Ride: Chevy, Dodge, Ford
Room: Dodge Mega, Ford, Chevy
Noise: Dodge, Chevy, Ford.
General Comments: The Ford stunk, rode like a rock and was noisy.
Chevy lacked the power I wanted but had best ride.
Dodge looked meaner and best all around.

Buy the FORD!!
If you do end up buying the Dodge you'll probaly end up selling it in the SPAM forum and buying an '07 Ford

Dodge all the way. :) Drive all three trucks and you will see that the Dodge Mega Cab with a 5.9 liter Cummins diesel has more power, and tons more interior room then the Chevy or Ford. The rear seats in the Mega Cab actually recline. Hands down the Dodge is the best choice. Off course I cold be a little biased.

Like your ever gonna sit in the back seat anyways. The cummins is sick but the truck is ugly and I hope they got their shit together on the tranny's. As for the Ford.....You know what I think about those P.O.S.'s. I have plenty of room in my Chevy and I'm almost as tall as you. Try moving the seat all the way back. I had a F350 for four years, LOVED it! Great truck, I was surprised it ran as great as it did. Never had one problem with it, but I had the V-10, no idea how the diesel will do for you. But I highly recommned the 250 or 350. So you live in Turlock?? My in-Laws live in Hickman...we will be up there over Easter with the boat....maybe catch you on the lake??

i had a dodge 2500 ho 4x4 crew cab 2004 model.i had no problems other than at two years old it had tiny dents all over it oh!,and1 injector went out at 76,000 miles.the metal on the sides is so thin that everything that touched it ,put a dent in it!a buddy of mine just bought one last september and it is now in the shop getting all the injectors replacled.i loved the inside of the truck, but the ride was a bit rougher than my other buddies chevy.Iam currently driving a chevy half tonwhich i love ,ride wise and mileage wise.TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION,I WOULD DEFINATELY GO WITH THE FORD,MAINLY BECAUSE THE DODGES THIN SHEET METAL.ANY LITTLE THING DENTS THEM,ALSO,TALK TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY,YOU ARE LIKELY TO SAVE ENOUGH BUYING THE FORD OVER THE DODGE TO PAY THE PRICE DIFFERENCE ON THE TWO.DODGES COST WAY MORE TO REPAIR,THEREFORE THEY HAVE A HIGHER RATING WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES,SO THEY COST CONSIDERABLY MORE TO INSURE.I HOPE THIS HELPS.

The old saying is still true today !!!
If you want a truck to just drive around town buy a Chevy !
If you want a truck to do a little work buy a Ford !
If you want a truck to haul something buy a Dodge.
Now think about the preventive maintance on a diesel. Then look at all 3 and which one has the easy to get to filters. Then look at what the cummins uses for internals. There is a reason Cummins has been around for such a long time. The cummins that Dodge uses was originally designed for 40,000 lb maintainer & endloader duty. So you won't hurt it pulling your boat. Shoot guys are dragg'n dually's cummins around here. I bought my 1st generation new and it still runs hard.

I have a ford PSD Crew 4x4x and love it. I also had a Dodge ram but with a gas motor and is was a P.O.S. I was stuck with a 4000.00 bill after the motor puked and dodge was not concerned at the least. It was a documented problem from 15,000 miles on and it didnt matter so I would say go FORD!! If you do decide to go Dodge I was always told in the cummings get the MANUAL transmission or you will be sorry. I was told the Fords had trans issues too but have never had any so far and I have 75,000 miles on as of now and pull campers/boats or whatever I want with this truck.

You are abviously going to get everyones opinion, so here is mine. Chev...for comfort, Ford...why?, Dodge...if you want power. I am into truck pulls and power gains. I would say at least 85% of the trucks used are dodge. It is a power plant. I have only lost once in my truck racing and it was to another dodge. But I would have to say that if you want luxury and all out comfort get a chev.

I also thought about how the dodge tranny would hold up and whatever one I get they will be automatics. I get supplier pricing on either one so they are with in a grand of each other. If Dodge didnt have the mega cab I wouldnt be having this conversation but unlike most of you guys here when I go to Havasu I have to drive for 7 to 8 hours so I want something with lots of room so I can be comfortable. I appreciate all of you guys and your input I have sme decissions to make as I can see. Check out pickuptrucks.com forums for more info. on each and the diesel threads. You get the same ford vs. dodge but some more in depth discussion from tests, mfg. recalls and such.
I'd take the Ford of your two choices for an 8 ft. bed, short beds are for soft handed, white collar yuppies/ LOL!
The construction companies in the So. Cal. area use Powerstrokes over Cummins at a ratio of 3 to 1. I doubt the price was the sole reason for all those fords bought over dodges.

The 6.0 in the Ford is a poor motor--check out the various diesel forums. If you really want a Ford wait; I believe they're dumping the 6.0 in '07 and going with a twin turbo I-6. On the other hand, I don't care for the 48RE Dodge trans. I have the '05 CTD but I have the 6 speed.

Both of your choices, as much as I hate to admit it, are good. You would be happy with either....I would definitely lean towards Ford. Rule number one out here in TN...never get behind a guy driving a Dodge...he doesnt know how to drive.. that aside... I would wait till June. As far as I know Ford will be releasing their new Super Duty body. Kindof a cross between the Tonka and whats out now. My Ford runs perfect but i will at their doorstep when they get released to place my order.

LAP Im picking it up tonight. I drove one yesterday they seem very peppy and I would say the ride is equal to fords ride since they got the new front end coil over shock in the ford so I would say they are equal ride wise I just want room lots of it and the reclining back seats attract me i can pass out in the back and I cant believe all the storage in the dodge u could hide a body in there haha :) .
