I used to try to play drums......Tama Artstar 2's.......When I bought the drums they had internal triggers in them......Of course you need a synth box and a PA.........The drums are gone as is the synth box........This is what I play with now. :)

got a yamaha electronic drum kit, fender acustic and electric guitars, fender bass, nothing special just something to play around on. my kids are having fun learning to play them and the drum kit is nice because i can set them up on headphones and they don't bug me too much. :D played in various bands years and years ago, in high school and in the military.

Play Guitar.
Present (and only) is a 1979 Alvarez Yairi DY85 6 string. (Martin D45 copy)
My wife got it for me on our first anniversary in 1980. Paid $200 bucks back then. Had it appraised at around a grand a couple of years ago.
Still sounds as sweet as it did nearly 30 years ago.
Had a Strat as a kid, but fell into acoustic mode and traded it for an Ovation in 1974. (which was stolen by some little shatbig)

Most of my stuff got stolen last May but I've replaced most of it.
Now got new Gibson Les Paul Special
New Marshall 1960A cabinet
Digitech effects processor
They didn't steal my hotrodded Laney tube amp only cuz I let a friend borrow it.
Will soon be picking up a Small Marshall combo for stereo effects, a Korg processor and maybe a Marhall head. There's a wicked head I tried that just blew me away......I think it was pig or hog or something by VHT I think but it was 2 grand for that!:(
They got my beautful 87 LP custom, a 90 Ibanez, processors and a crate cabinet.....which I didn't like anyway.:D The Marshall sounds so much better.
Saw a hot Jackson with Seymore duncans in Vegas I may pick up as a birthdat pres to myself. Hope it's still there at guitar center.

Ah a sound engineer! I'm one of those too. Of course my system isn't quite as big as that one, but here's what I'm runnin':
Allen & Heath GL2400 24 Channel console
System is configured for 3 way stereo with auxiliary fed subwoofers
(2) Peavey VSX26s (One for the mains, the other for subs)
(2) dbx DriveRack PA Speaker Processors (1 for Monitor 1 & 2, the other for Monitor 3 & 4)
TC Electronic M300 dual engine effects processor (for room effects)
(4) dbx 266XL gated compressors (for gating/expanding drums and compressing/gating the kick)
(1) QSC PLX1602 (Ran stereo for left & right horns)
(2) QSC PLX3002 (Ran bridge mono...one for left midrange, the other for right midrange)
(2) QSC PLX3402 (Ran bridge mono...one for the left sub, the other for the right sub)
(2) QSC PLX3102 (Ran bridge mono, one for monitor 1, the other for monitor 2)
(1) Peavey PV1500 (Ran bridge mono for monitor 3)
(1) QSC RMX2450 (Ran bridge mono for monitor 4)
Mains: (2) JBL SRX725s (2x 15's 1 horn w/4" diaphragm and a 2" throat)
Subs: (2) Cerwin Vega EL36B Folded Horn subs
Monitors: (2) JBL MRX series monitors, (2) Yamaha SM12V monitors
Single phase power distro w/16 individual 20 amp circuits
Board/processing rack goes FOH (front of house) while the amps reside on the stage for shorter speaker runs. I run 2 snakes...one microphone snake and the other is the send snake that runs from the FOH rack to the power racks on the stage.
I think every guitar player should become a sound engineer...that way the 'engineer' can never tell us to turn down. :D

Is that a DriveRack 4800 there above the PLXs?
The SRXs are some of the finest sounding dual 15 boxes I've ever heard. I bought them after hearing one of the local bands here through them. The best part about them is you will never have the guitar stepping on the vocals if you have enough power to run them. I run them biamped, but have ran them passive from 100Hz up with excellent results. Well worth the cash I spent on 'em.
As far as the PLX series QSCs...these are some of the best sounding amps I've ever used. Very clean, studio quality sound.
Also, if you're not running aux fed subs you're missing out.

480 was what I meant...typo.
The Peavey VSX26 is Peavey's take on the 260...really nice unit.
Ashleys are great because you can tailor the 3db "hump" at the crossover point that's inherent in Linkwitz Riley crossovers.

Humbucking pickups rule! I mean, single coils have their place too...can't beat the sound of a Fender Strat for blues, but when it comes to hard rock, you can't beat humbuckers.
That guitar has the active electronics in it right?

I have played in bands for years, but since the accident in the teams I had to scale way, way back for my hand's sake.
Here is what made the cut though...
G&L S-500 Custom built strat with swamp ash body and classic strat neck, Sperzel tuners, DiMarzio X2N and two single coils from G&L (adjustable pole, real hot) in the neck and middle positions. All new electronics are recent, along with a tone-switching push pull on the bottom knob.
G&L Legacy blond with Dimarzio X2N in bridge and otherwise stock. This is a backup stage guitar in case of broken strings.
Used to use Dean Markley .013's in everything but have since switched to DR .013's.
Have two Digitechs (one a stage backup). One is a 2120 Artist (the purple one) and the other is a modded out 2112 with all of the updates and some new goodies. Both use a Controller One pedal.
I also use a Green tube screamer (Ts9 original) from Ibanez and a Cry Baby original Wah on occasion.
All are amplified through Roctron Velocity 250 power amps.
I have lots of cabs, but my favorite are ADA 2x12" quarter stacks. For stage work, they allow you to have stereo separation, turn them inboard for guitar monitors and let the sound guy use house sound for the guitar. MUCH better for big amplification.
I also have a 4x12 Marshall straight stack and a 4x12 slant stack... both with Celestions. Hanging around at work is a 4x12 Crate slant and an Ampeg 4x12 straight cab.
I also have an Ovation Studio Professional 6 string with a black sunburst and no electronics. For recording with it, I mike it and have a Dean Markley sound hole pickup for dicking around with it. I am looking at a hot dot transducer though...
I just bought a killer Rocktron practice amp as well. Nothing crazy, no computer sounding tones.. just a great clean tone and a good enough dirty tone. For anything I need edge on, I just usually add the Ts9.

NICE! Those X2Ns are pretty damn hot for a passive pickup.
A couple of years ago, I was just running one of my plexi clone heads through my 73 cab. I'd plug straight in (with only my Vox Wah and MXR Phase 90) and crank every knob to 11 (my panels were actually custom numbered to 11...gotta love Spinal Tap), then I ran a Marshall Power Brake to soak it so I'd have control of the volume. However, I modified mine with a second stepping switch so that I could footswitch between a rhythm and a lead volume setting. When I started doing that I had a tone pretty damn close to the tone Jimmy Page had on Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains The Same".
Then I got into a band that required the "high gain" sound, so again I turned to Marshall and got their JMP-1 tube MIDI preamp. Even with that, I can get both that vintage sound and the high gain tone as well.
And even with EMG pickups, my Les Pauls still have that Les Paul sound, just hotter.

I'll give them a shot. I've been using light gauge strings for years...due to the 24.75" scale of a Les Paul I have to run .009 hybrids when tuning 440, and .010s when tuning 1/2 step down to take up the slack. I use .011s when tuning to "Motley Crue" tuning (whole step down from 440). But I'll check out those .013s.

I play bass trombone and have a trombone repair business.
I have a Bach 50 bass with Ed Thayer Axial rotors, aluminum core, 9 1/2" bell, cut to be a screw rim, lightweight slide silverplated, Minick leadpipe and mouthpiece. I also have a King 1480 bell section for smaller work.
In the rock band I play in I use a Sennheiser E619 Silver. I wanna get get a Digitech voice processor (the 300 not the 400).
Boatcop, that Yiari is nice! I worked at a guitar store for a while and they had a cedar topped 12 string that sounded like a waterfall, beautiful.
Hey, I can't be the only horn player here...
I am a little embarrassed to admit that I was a first chair French Horn player in grade school and junior high. Went to a national Honor band for it in fact. Mine is a very old school "Super Olds" with a silver hammered bell and ring. It is an early '30's piece if memory serves me.
I played on a silver Paxton for most of the shows though. The Olds was a little too expensive to be schlepping to and from school on a bus.
I got out of it as soon as I realized that chicks around a campfire would rather hear you bust out "Patience" on an acoustic guitar than a perfect rendition of Barry Tuckwell performing Mozart's Four Horn Concerto's.

I guess if I couldn't play bass trombone I wouldn't play...and I sure can't sing. But I get to play jazz, symphonic, rock, so it's not boring:D

I'm a big fan of active stuff but I prefer just active pickups, which is why I run the EMGs. Passive pickups just don't sound "big" enough for my tastes...the first time I heard an EMG I knew that was THE pickup to go with...especially in Les Pauls. They really do a lot to compliment the tone of these bad boyz.
