That article makes it sound pretty easy to just shine up the mold and start building boats,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,This will be an interesting one to follow.

Couldn,t you just buy a 1990 Howard complete for what he,s asking for the plugs What kind of market would there be for a 16 year old design?

I always wondered who bought those molds. I was sad to see the old 21' mold go. It was like a changing of the guard for the boating era @ Howard.

I would like to buy an old "classic" laid up using todays technology. I bet an infused v-drive cruiser would be a pretty bad ass boat :D

A couple of years ago Gene over at Howard got rid of the Custom Cruiser mold as well as the 25 offshore. Seems that the 25 has surfaced and is up for sale again.

that sucks  A couple of years ago, I sent them a request about the cost to build a 21 CC V-drive. It was just an inquiry at the time, but I mighta took it a little more seriously had I known they were dumping the molds.

that's something to think about.

Guys.
Think Spectra here.
The Howard 21 was the Spectra 20
The Howard 25 was the Spectra 24 bottom with a new deck.
The 24 Hallett was designed by the same guy, Bud Bailey but it has a pad, 2 extra strakes and has a 102 inch beam as opposed to the Spectra 96 inch beam.It (the 24 Hallett)is also the bottom for the Hallett 255-S.
The Spectra was 24'6" in length...The Howard may be the same or it was stretched to 25.
These are not the "fast" bottoms as currently being used in the Howard line.
But they are classic!

If you can pay the freight go for the Schiada 21 River Cruiser... faster bottom, impeccable construction.
