06/07 I am thinking of picking one up this weekend. Just wondering how all of the owners like them in their day to day driving?
Thanks.

I own 2, both are F-150's, both have 5.4's, even though both are 'Heritage Editions', they share the same basic drive-train with the later series:
I have 176K miles on a 1999 and 52K on a 2000, most reliable vehicles I have ever owned. The '99 has so far cost me a tranny, 1 battery, 3 sets of tires & 4 sets of front pads (I used to tow a lot). The 2000 is a Lightning, all it's cost so far is a set of tires and new intercooler ('99 & '00 were prone to leaking) - luckily a bud had a spare sitting on the shelf. Neither is treated real kind - both have moved 10,000+ lb trailers short distances, both are used as shop trucks - hauling everything from scrap-metal to golf-carts.
When they were both under warranty, dealer service was spotty - had better luck with some dealers than with others over minor issues.
Would I buy another 150 with a 5.4?
Yes.

I have 98 Expedition 5.4 now, it has been great since I have owned it. Now it has 136k and I really like the new F150s, so I am thinking of switching it up, just dont know how reliable the new 5.4 is.

I have a 97 F150. It's paid for and I plan on driving it into the ground, but I wouldn't buy another one. I used to assume that the horrible clattering, knocking noises the engine makes when it's cold were indications that it was near death, but I also drive a 5.4 powered van for work, it's four months old and makes the same horrible knocking and clattering noises so I guess that's just normal for a 5.4?

On the early 5.4's (up until 2000), the assembly plant gave the blocks to much cylinder wall to piston clearance. No real effect on longevity though - my '99 has rattled on cold start-up since day one and it now has 176K+ miles on it.

Had 2 and love both. First was 97' that I put 197,000 miles on and only replaced breaks, battery and an alternator. The second is and 05' with 23K and so far we had to have an injector replaced.
Gas mileage with the 05' (5.4, 4x4, 4.73 gear) averages 14 mpg.

Great interior (Nicest of all the 1/2 ton trucks)
Good looks
Nice quiet/plush ride
Motor is a tad weak compared to the other trucks in the same market(Dodge,Nissan,chevy..now toyota)
Overall I think it's a nice truck and would work fine if your towing less than
4K pounds.

Had an 01 and tranny blew out at 51K miles. Braking sucked on it. Other than that it was a decent truck. Probably wouldn't buy another one.

Had a 5.4 in my 03 and loved it. I just bought my wife a new fx4 5.4. I like it so much I just might buy one for myself.
That means I have to sell my Duramax, but I sold the 5th wheel so I realy don't need the diesel anymore,(just thinking outloud) I am torn.

F250 is on order if anyone is interested in a very clean F150 shoot me PM with Email and can send moreinfo and pix.

we have an 06 lariat fx4 w/ 36k miles. To me the seats are uncomfortable, and we have been through 3 motors (all covered under warranty) Its the first Ford I have ever had that had issues. Would probably by another though, just dont like the seats.

Yup 3...we dont know why. all they tell us is, they put a completely new one in. probably the only reason we keep it is it has 36k on the truck and 5k in the most recent motor.

My buddy has a 07 5.4 4x on 35's. He had a 03 F-350 Diesel but didnt tow enough to justify and he hated listening to it so he bought the F150. He is pretty dissapointed in the lack of power. I know he has 35's and should be geared but I drove it and the thing is a major turd. He jumped in my 02 F250 V10 and he loved it. Just to let you know, mine is on 35's also with stock gears (3.73's).The fuel millage is almost identical. He is going to buy one as soon as he gets rid of his.
In 05 before I bought my F-250 V10 I was in the market for a 2wd 1/2 ton. I test drove the Ford, Chevy, Nissan and Toyota. The Nissan Titan was hands down the best truck in my opinion and had the best pricing. It hauled ass and was more more comfortable than the others. The Chevy was a real tire smoker with the 5.3 but handled like crap. I liked the style of the Ford but it lacked in power and the seats were not very comfortable but I really like the styling and the look and the fit and finish was the best of all 4. The Toyota just didnt do a thing for me so I didnt really go past the test drive, although it ran about equal to or a little better than the F150.
Then the deal came up on my F250 that I couldnt pass up and I am happy I took it. I dont worry about brakes, can tow more then the 1/2 ton and get the same millage while running WAY better.
Just go out and test drive all of them and buy what you like, your the one who has to make the payments. Every manufacturer has their problems so bottom line is if YOU like it then you should buy it.

I Have A 2006 Harley Davidson Edition. The Interior Is Hands Down The Coolest And Most Luxurious Of Any Truck I Have Been In. Plus It Comes With 22" Rims With An Option For Awd Or Rwd. I Have Awd And Have Had No Problems At All With It. Bit Of A Gas Guzzler (11.0) But Aren't They All? Do Wish It Had The Roushcharger On It Though.

I have an 03 Navigator . They came with a DOHC 32 valve 5.4 . Ford went back to SOHC 24 valve , claiming 10 more footpounds of torque. However ,
max torque [ 355 ] comes in much lower , @ 2750 rpm for the 32 valve engine  . The DOHC 32 valve may have less torque , but seems to be much quicker than the ones I tried with the 24 valve ;) .
I tow my boat weighing in at 8350 lbs without sweat ;) :) .Milage sucks at 12 mpg though even in 2 wd , just like any other truck , don't care who you are .

same here, but more a question of power for me, my 150 is a 95 super cab long bed with the SVO 5.8l option..ie a 351 with GT-40 stuff on it and big rear gears, it's a brute for a 150, and very little trouble in 12 yrs and 100k mi, I tried the 5.4 when they came out but it was so slow in comparison, figured I would just wait for the next motor offering:rolleyes:
I like the new 150 crew cab, I don't think the lightning option is offered for the crew cab, so I am sticking with what I got for now, it's the perfect truck for my needs:D

I hear ya, my situation is similar. Except I have a 97 5.4 Expedition and it has been rock solid. The only thing I do not like is we do not use the 3rd row seat and it does not fold away flat like the new ones. So I think a crew cab would do the job perfectly! Just dont know if the extra coin is worth it.

There was something wrong if you got 9 empty. Mine gets 12.5 empty all day long and if I keep it at 70 on the way to the river I can pull 14 but that hardly ever happens. Was yours a early V10.
Hell, I get 9 towing this setup so I dont know whats wrong.

yea them friggin lying ass dsl guys.so your tank is 32 gallons?i hope mine is that big if it is the last 1/4 must be 11 gallons.i will empty it this time shouldn't take to long lol...i will mostly use it to tow to the river so gas milage isnt a big deal.

Long beds have 38 gallon tanks and short beds have 29's. The most I have ever put in is like 35 and I was below empty and didnt want to chance it. When mine is just on the empty line it usually takes 32.
I bought my truck from my buddy who decided to buy a new Dodge with a Cummins. He was always towing either a skid steer or a 29' enclosed and didnt like buzzing the V10, he felt like he was killing it. His Dodge gets 3 mpg better towing and goes up Crestwood summit 7 mph faster with the same load as the V10 would but he doesnt have to ring it out like I do. I dont care, I just matt the gas pedal, turn up the stereo and let it shift when it wants to, lol.

Ford is really being aggressive this weekend. I am sure the salesman was pretty pleased to have a two car deal at 11pm on Friday night (before closing) started his weekend out right. He deserved it though, he took care of business.
Kudos to Ford. If anyone is interested, let me know and I can give you his name, super cool guy (not your typical salesman).
