I got 2 trucks to play with here.....Both F-250SD's 4x4's
1st. is a '99 with a 4" lift V-10 5spd. Std. 4.33 gears
2nd. is a '05 2" leveling lift Auto 6.0 3.73
called a local shop here and they said I would need a 8" lift to clear 40x13x17 tires
they said the biggest kit they had in stock was for the '05 and it was a 6" and would only clear 35" tires ???
I think they are full of it !!! I got Goodyear MTR's 35" on the 05 with only a 2' spacer in the front and I got plenty of room, they said I was full of it :D
so I hung up on them , I have had these tires on there for over 40k miles
and in all kinds of binds and they have cleared fine .....the 40s are exactly like the 35s except just alot taller sidewall
anyone running 40"s ?? what size lift you got ???

I have an '04 F-250 6.0 with a 6" lift and I clear 37's with no problem. I could probably fit a 38" tire under there, but it would start to hit the fenders if the truck dipped. I think that you would need at least an 8" or a 10" to fit 40's under the truck.

To clear 40's you will most likly need a 10". I have a 8" Donahoe on mine and with 38" PJ's I had to trim the plastic under the bumper. The problem is width. Most 38"-40" tires are going to be any where from 15.5-16.5" wide.

Hustler , these tires are direct replacement for the Gov.HumVee's , they fit stock 17" rims and are only 13.4" wide ..local Goodyear dealer ordered them in and now he hasn't sold any for quite awhile....they retail for over 450.00 ea.
since I buy so many tires from him for my trucking fleet , he is going to let me have a set if I want them. I have a spare set of 17" rims and Damn they look good mounted...no just to make them fit  :D

Had an 11" on my '03 to clear 40's. They told me 10" might rub the bumper on the front.

If they are only 13.5 wide you could probably get away with a 8" get ahold of these guys http://www.sdhqoffroad.com they can get you what ever you need.

I run a 12" lift to clear 40's. No significant fender gap at all..

I've got a 04 F250 with 10 inches of lift. I'm running 37's on 17's. I've run forty's before and the difference in ride and driveability was huge! The Mickey Thompsons that I currently have are damn near impossible to keep in balance for any amount of time. Running forty's is much like running a bias ply tire and it pretty much sucks. I like the look of 37's and thats what I'm sticking with. Getting ready to buy a new set, just haven't made a final decision on which ones to use.:D

i ride on a 9" lift on my 03' F-250 superduty (10" in the front & 8" in the rear). i roll on 38's. in certain kinds of turns my front tires will rub the outside lower corners on the rear of my fenders. i trimed the front and have no problems in that area. if you are gonna run 40's i would go with a 12" lift.

running 42's, but it's on a 650. with these I had to do an additional 2" lift, and fender mods

MTR's run on the small side. Those 35s probable measure 33 with 32 lbs of air.

How high of a lift is needed on a 06 f250? same lug pattern right?

10" with 40's for me. Still had to trim the plastic on the bottom of the bumper. Like somebody posted before, it's the width that makes it hard to fit. My tires still rub the spring when you turn them all the way to lock, there's probably no way to get around that no matter how much lift.

I have a 6" on there and it clears easily. You could probably do it with a 4". Let me know, they are sitting in my garage pretty much new.
