I have a 2000 Silverado extracab 4.8liter 2 wheel drive lifted on 35's with 410 gears and a limited slip. I was driving home from vegas, got off the freeway and took off from a stop sign and the rpms came up to 2500 before I started to move then the check engine light came on. So this morning I checked the tranny fluid and it was a lil low so I put a quart in it. After that I took it for a drive and the check engine light went off and it drove fine. 15 min later I got in it to go to work and as soon as I pulled out of the driveway it started slipping and that damn check engine light came on.
Its code P0758.
Any ideas? Is it new tranny time?
thanks

Google the ODBII code you just had. One forum mentioned that the tranny did not downshift on its own when coming to a stop, triggering the code.

Looked up code P0758 in the Ford trouble code sections for Chevys, here is the fix
"You need to buy one quart of GM P/N 2554545, or if thats not available you can sub one quart of unleaded 90 octane gasoline. One of GM P/N 2554546, if thats not available you can sub one Blue Diamond "strike anywhere" match.
One GM P/N 2554547, if thats not available you can sub one semi flat rock, approx palm size.
Gently sprinkle intire inside of cab with P/N 2554545. seats, dash, floor etc...leaving approx one cup to run a trail down to the ground, using P/N 2554546, rub the tip against P/N 2554547, drop P/N 2554547 onto the previous trail of P/N 2554545, and rapidly move away from the Chevy truck.
The next step is to call yor insurance company and mention you drove a Chevy, and they will expedite your claim.
The final step is to go the Ford dealer and BUY A REAL TRUCK!!!!!!
Hope this helps!!
Im here for you man..............:jawdrop:
