Given time I would like to read through the entire bill. I bet one could find other things in there that hide under the "Feel good and ban weapons" bull that comes up every now and then. Maybe a raise or some other crap.

Several folks have pointed out that because such vague text was used in the bill (particularly concerning part of the definition of 'pistol grip' which states "any other characteristic that can function as a grip") and that the previous requirement of two "bad characteristics" (pistol grip, flash suppressor, bayonet lug) has been reduced to one, this bill could effectively be used to ban all semi-automatic rifles.
That includes the 10/22, since it is magazine fed, semi-auto, and includes "any other characteristic that can function as a grip" (the stock) -- in an extreme interpretation.
While I don't see the interpretation going that far, the fact is that it's written that way. Just take a look at how the second amendment has been intrepreted -- by the letter, not the spirit.
Scary stuff.

It goes alot farther than just assault weapons, once they add in all the fine print and legal interpretations ....
This will also include shotguns ,deer rifles and anything else that has any noticible trace of a grip on the stock , and for those who like the smooth stock leveraction 30/30's , those also fall into the increased capacity magazine void,
They advertise the "Assault Gun " to get more people rallying to vote for the Ban....actually when you pull back the Carpet ....it's all guns they are after

From my NRA link above.... 65 named guns (the Clinton law banned 19 by name); semi-auto fixed-magazine pistols of over 10 rounds capacity; and frames, receivers and parts used to repair or refurbish guns.
As Rush would say...the Dems are having a collective orgasm over this shit. You just wait, they are just getting warmed up. Gotta love the pathetic liberals that voted these sorry asses in:rolleyes:

This bill is nothing but pointless feel-good gun controll and must be stopped. FAR more important issues MUST be addressed such as National Security in an age of Intl. Terrorism and the lack of controll of our souhern border. Also the corresponding 12+ MILLION persons who are in this country in violation of this nation's laws.

Judging by the number of posts vs. the number of views, there are more people here than I thought who dont mind the erosion of their freedoms. You dont have to like guns to sign, but caring about your personal freedoms is required.

Pretty sad isn't it? People just don't want to deal with anything anymore. It is easier to just hope it goes away. I think it has a lot to do with how crazy life is now in the areas where the cost of living is so high like SoCal etc. You bust ass at work just to stay on top and then there is little time for the family and fun. By the time you have spent all that energy there is little left to get involved in something like this. It is a classic example of how the "lawmakers" continue to erode our freedoms with seemingly little resistance. Like I said earlier, the Dems are just getting warmed up. They have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. They will be sure to make it count.

BTW, stopped by the local gun shop yesterday and they have sold out of all the AR15' s and AK47's. So people are aware what is going on around here. It was all the buzz at the shop.
