Price is about it.
Accuracy if that really matters

I personally like the recall feature of the GPS.
In my old Jet Boat I liked the speedo (it was off by about 5MPH) :D :D

speedo is more accurate and gps depending on the model requires updates
but since its going in a lake boat, gps might be the thing incase you get drunk and loose your way.

G.P.S. is more accurate.

agreed--Livorsi GPS speedo...
only con to having a GPS of any type on board is that inevitably they slow the boat down, sometimes drastically :D

So true.
When we got our boat in 95' - 70mph was moving at a decent clip, about average for a performance boat.
By 2000, that number had grown to about 100mph, and is also when my speedo quit. I haven't made any effort to get it working again, what's the point.
I am adding a few ponies now, so looks like I'll be upgrading.
-- And my geesh, when you're spending $90-125K for a performance boat - what's a few hundred more dollars?
Go with the GPS.

Never believe anyone who says top mph without GPS. It could be accurate but more often then not it isn't. And usually it is at least 5 mph over. Major back-to-reality ...
