Heres the deal I have 23' Eliminator Eagle now, and it is sold. I am set on a Magic just cant decide which one, we drove 3 yesterday at Naked Turtle. Drove the 29' Wizard nice and sporty just not alot of storage space, 30' Sleek this thing is a Cadillac storage all over the place, and 28' Deck awesome performance with a 525. We have 3 kids, we love perfromance of the deck just a little concerned with a 18 month old trying to escape if you know what I mean. Obviously we are not going to be hauling ass around with a baby but just wanted some parents input if they have deckboat. Also any Magic owners out there chime in on the quality of there boat, if they happy etc. Thanx for the help.

we have the conquest deck. Three kids 5, 7, 9 nobroblems. As you said just cant haul ass, you are carrying presious cargo. Decks are great for the kids because of the entry IMO. You don't really worry about them scracthing it up and dthe storage is WOW. As you know with kids you end up bringing everything.... They will have fun on anything as long as they are there.
Be safe and good luck.

picking out the type of boat to get really depends on how you plan to use it. deck boats are great if you have a family, climbing in and out of a v-bottom can be a pain.

He is some great advice, go to the spam section and pick a Magic deck or a real nice used DCB 26 and save yourself a ton of money for the kid college fund.;)

I agree used is good but you cant choose alot things that you might like. I bought my boat now used, had a boat mechanic check it all out still end up with other peoples problems. Not saying all are like that, I just want to be able to choose what I want colors etc., and a warranty is nice to.

I would agree to a point, but a lot of the boats are one..two years old and many still have factory or even extended warranties. The used market is overflowing with great deals on great boats right now. Some of the boats you are talking about have a savings of 30 -50k if you go used, that is a chunk of change in my world.

Have you looked in the spam section here? There are at least two Magics & one Conquest and a Chetah right now.

Have you already looked into insurance? That may be your tie breaker right there. Deck boat is going to be more to insure and in the comming years will be harder and harder to find as many insurance agencies are finding out the hull is the same as the tunnels.

looked at that to around $1000.00 for the year with a 525, and that is at state farm...

I would re-check that. It sounds too low. Im with statefarm and have a 496HO that I pay 968 per year. Perfect driving record and she just let me know the other day that if i canceled that i wouldnt be able to come back ebcause they are not underwritting deckboats anymore. (im underwritten as a deck but am an open bow tunnel)

Howard 28' SportDeck TPI700 $1268/yr
Eliminator Daytona 25' HP500 $865/yr
NO LAY UP
Both are with State Farm. They have about 30 photos of each boat so they know exactly what they are insuring as far as hull and engine/hp.

Oh yeah ..... I would go with a deck boat. Just find the right insurance and buy enough power from day one.

Check out the E-ticket deck. You could lock the 18 month old in the cabin so he can't escape. ;) Or you could use it for storage. :)

coming from a guy that has had 29' V's, and currently runs closed bow cat--no cabin, etc...DECK BOAT hands down. They sell so damn many of them for a reason! User-friendly, comfy ride, decent performance...great boats overall.
As Keith Sayre says--cat vs deck boat...the cat is faster, more fun to drive, maybe even cheaper, but give me the deck boat...in Conquest' case they build 50 deck boats a year and 5 "cats" Magic's ratio has to be pretty similar

The reason why I did not want another Eliminator is I did not like that you could not drain the ski locker when it got water in it. Bad design, gave up trying to figure how to get it drained about 4 years ago. Water was leaking through rub rails in the back of the boat, the rivets were coming loose. It was running from the bottom of the boat under the upholstery into the ski locker that ran from the bow to the middle of the boat. Got no support from Eliminator when the problem started on how to fix it. That was a fun job drilling those out and putting new ones in with a marine seal. So bottom line I might not have $300,000 Daytona, and my boat was a 1996, but now I am going to spend over $100,000 on a new boat, and it wont be a Eliminator. Bad customer service leaves a bad taste in someones mouth for life, with me at least.

Howard 28' Sport Deck. Has a front locking door for the little one and the best built deck boat on the market. And they only build about 40 total boats a year.

Drivem all, pricem all, build it once and get the bigger power up front if you think you will want to go faster at some point, AND YOU WILL. Lots of good choices in the deck boat market. I wouldnt be afraid to go used one bit, hell just in sales tax you could save $8 K alone. BTW Progressive $530 a year for me and do it online! Good luck! NSF
