i have an 05 with the 6.0 and 37" tires but all i did was the edge programmer and banks exhaust and a K&N intake. the only thing that i noticed was that the mileage went up 2mpg after doing the edge. i only use it on setting 3 or on 2 when towing. the exhast and intake didn't seem to make any differnce, i still have the cat and i have heard that taking that off will help power wise. my truck has plenty of power, i just hate the turbo lag and bad mileage. but i'm also a lead foot.

Hey Dan thanks for the info, maybe shawn O. may have told you, right now I'm pulling the 30' 5th wheel with the ultra 23 xs behind it, on 35" nittos it's not bad with 16,000lbs behind it, mileage sucks but that's expected. I'm just looking for that little extra, I was thinking of just doing a gear change from the 3.73 to 4.30, that would reduce gearing back to stock with the 35" on there and maybe exhaust, I don't want to do programmer and deal with any warranty issuses..... not that I expect any (knock on wood) but went thru that with last truck.....wedge (Orm's neighbor)

04 Superduty 6.0L with a 6" lift and 35 tires, installed a 4" RBP cat back exhaust with a RBP programmer. I like the RBP due to the fact that it has 10 different settings as compared to the standard 3 setting on many others. Also have the K&N FIPK intake and filter. All of that I noticed a 4-5mpg improvement.

How about pulling.....speeds and such....what's the most you pull...wedge:D

changing the gears will make a huge difference. but you need to check the laws if your 5th wheel is 30' long i believe you can't tow another trailer behind, 28' is the limit. if your in an accident it won't matter if it's your fault or not your insurance won't cover you. plus you can be sued big time.

Trailer is classified as a 28'....all that matters...legal classification, right?... overall length is 73' from the tip of the stem to tail of the stern....wedge

My friend has the same set up as you, and he went with the 4:30 gears, made a huge differance when pulling his toy hauler. Here is the place that did the gears for him, they are very good at what they do

'05 , Superchips programmer set on performance setting (3rd.) ,cut out air intake in front of stock filter to flow more air . removed Cat.Converter , replaced Ford muffler with a 4" x 3' straight thru design.
60k no problems yet ( knocking on wood ) :D

Not a Ford man but I will still give some input...
First thing is first with Diesels...Gauges, get some. With that kind of weight you are going to at least want Tranny(auto), and EGT. And get a boost also because its nice to have.
Next you want to do some exahust, you need to keep those EGT's down. Do a full system if your pocketbook is deep enough. If not than at least get a free flowin muffler. If you can get rid of the cats or resonnators(sp?) do so.
Than you need to step into an intake of some sort...stay away from K&N on a diesel. Amsoil makes a great air fliter.
If you try to add to much power to your set-up you are going to have to invest in tranny upgrades. So get on some Powerstroke sites and find a chip that will be tranny friendly, stay away from Banks.

Why? Ever seen an ISO test in person? Ever been to K&N's test facility? Just because some BS is posted on a diesel site does not make it true. I know for fact that manufacturers are all over those sites spreading lies about competitors and stretching the truth about their designs while acting like regular peeps or experts in the field. Several people I work with used to work for them. Rule 1. Just because you read it on the internet does not make it true. Rule . Seek to understand. Come on by and spend the day with me. I am 100% certain you will be convinced otherwise.

I have the Edge/JA combo, a catback and the AFE intake. I run 35's with 3.73 gears. Pulled everything from 38's to car trailers, generators, etc. Have zero issues at 63K and the truck runs really well. More worried about it stopping than going that fast with the heavy stuff...

Why is that??? I had a K&N on my '94 Chevy with the 6.5. Sold it with 245K on it. K&N it's whole life. Got one on my Duramax now with the FIPK kit. 90K miles and it's still good. Need to clean it, but that's about it. I've even got one in the company Duramax with 52K on it. Never a problem with any of them. ;)

Here is a small sheet
http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/attachments/amsoil-twin-port-sales/2974d1167444670-nanofiber-air-filter-datasheets-datasheet.pdf
Here is a link to the 'white papers' presented to the transportation industry regarding the extreme efficiency of nanofiber air filters for the transportation industry. This study is from 2001, but great info that is still relative today. There are some great graphs and content that back up the nanofiber claims to greater efficeincy in hiway and off-hiway vehicles.

Have a friend that had a V-10 that he lifted and threw some bigger tires on, after that he couldn't pull his trailer...worth a $hit. So we threw a whipple on there. Thing was a monster. Even though it got 8 mpg, on a good day:confused:

06' PSD with 26K, 35x12.5x17 rubber, 3.73 gears.
Mods: Banks down pipe ( with cat ) back exhaust, K&N FIPK, Edge juice platinum with monitor always set on ZERO aka STOCK. Bought it for the multi function gauges.
I don't tow anything like you so I can't help ya. Talk to Vegas36Cat, he tows that monster Spectre around with a 04' or 05' 6.0 and loves it.
I haven't noticed much turbo lag, but then again I don't stomp on it.

Just so you know... removing the cat is a federal no no...not something they would normally catch, but if you get a ass he might just look underneath.

If I remember correctly the fines are up in the 15k dollar range. And its a federal crime. I really don't know much about Fords but I do believe that they all have one, even the older ones. My 02' Cummins didn't come with one and now it is just 5" straight pipe. The Cummins did come with resonators(sp?) though.

Not everybody has lifted trucks that stay on the asphalt.
http://www.***boat.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=25766&stc=1&d=1173235807
We run a lot of times heavy into off road work. Off site towers to tow, hours away from asphalt. All Mtn top work. We pull a bunch of guys, and tow our own guys, out of it. Sometimes these things actually do a ton for our customers. Not everybody runs for the armor-all...

I would also recommend the traction bars since you are pulling that much weight. they made a big difference for me when taking off from a stop.
