Can you hack into them to send video/audio to and from them to a non-OEM head unit.
i.e.: Can you Pull your OEM head unit, replace it with a Pioneer Nav and get the OEM roof mounted DVD player to still work? Can you use the OEM DVD player to send video to the Pioneer head unit and watch video up front?
Or can you at least keep the OEM head and send video from the OEM DVD out to additional (headrest) monitors?

Chris, I haven't messed with newer models, so SWB may be the go to guy on this one; However, I do know that a lot of them use molex plugs instead of RCA's. You can likely make it work, but it would take time tracing and adding input/output RCA's if it can be done...

Roz do you think someone like Evo could do it?
I am looking at two trucks, one with and one w/o the factory DVD. Just wondered if it was worth the money to get it.
And I don't know how soon I would be adding to the existing system? $$$
So I would at least have the kids covered for now....

Yes, it can be done.....but if you have the option of buying with out....go that way.

My current ride has no DVD. My previous one did. My son HATES my car now! :)
Thank goodness for Game Boys

Oh, so I was looking at the F150 today with the DVD. The overhead rail system is where it is located, and it is removable. You can actually slide it forward almost enough to see it from the front seats. If you extended the wires you could put it right up front!
But easy to see if the LE passed you by.

.........And usually all the wires are white. :D
Why is everything a race issue these days. Sheesh. :p :D j/k
