I'm installing a new dishwasher. I pulled the old electrical cord off of the old dishwasher but didn't pay attention to which wire was black and which one was white. :hammer2:
Is there a way to tell by looking at the cord?
This is what I have.

The green is ground and I don't figger it matters which is black or white. Just hook um up an it should work. I don't know sh** but I've sure zapped myself enough times! lol:D

They make special high temp whips (cords) for hooking up dishwashers dishwashers otherwise heat will cause it to deteriorate over time. If your outlet is right side up and wired correctly the wire on the left (wide slot in outlet) is neutral (white) and the one on the right is hot (black).

The guage is the same in the "Pigtail".. you can connect either end of the gray to either white or black. Just make sure that the green (GROUND) is connected to a designated site, usually a green screw on the front of the dishwasher (located in lower right or left front corner).

another way to tell is the wire that has texture on the insulation is the white side, the black or hot side is usually smooth:idea:
