LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Eddie Van Halen has said he will enter rehab for unspecified reasons.
In a statement addressed to fans Thursday on Van Halen's Web site, the guitarist said he decided to seek treatment because "at the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best."
"That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110 percent that I feel I owe you and want to give you," the statement said.
It wasn't known whether Van Halen will attend his band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony Monday in New York. According to news reports, only bassist Michael Anthony, and possibly onetime lead singer Sammy Hagar, will show.
Van Halen was originally slated to tour this summer with original lead singer David Lee Roth, but those plans were thrown into disarray last month.
The operator of Van Halen's Web site declined to release further details on Eddie Van Halen's situation.

They are one of the best. IMO, That would be the best re-union concert in a very long while. It is a shame because he is so talented, but he needs to get his head out of his butt.

If he doesn't enter rehab and complete it, and do so very soon, I wouldn't count on him making it to 2010. that picture defines, "Sucked Up" I haven't seen any other recent photographs of him, but that man right there is dying.
He needs to get together with Larry Hagman and find out how Larry got to the front of the line for a liver transplant.

My paper reported this morning:
Van Halen will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday without anyone named Van Halen present.
Ed's now in rehap. Al's not going. DLR is boycotting the event over the producers' refusal to let him perform.
Michael Anthony will be present. Sammy Hagar has confirmed that heplans to be there.
So when Van Halen gets inducted Monday, the only two guys who will be there are guys the band has kicked out.
Apparently, Velvet Revolver will present VH for induction.

I love Eddie but he's just trashing the Van Halen legacy that he has worked so hard to build. He will always be one of the top guitar players out there and Van Halen's music will always be the tops.....but drunken scenes like this one at the NAMM show dont help. He is just wandering aimlessly on the fretboard....cant hardly stand and definately cant talk. What a bummer.
