I just watched it again, it's still one of the greatest westerns ever made....
The walk down to the "shootout at OK Corral" is one of the best scenes ever....
http://www.needcoffee.com/html/dvd/images/tombstone1.jpg
A scene copied many times, including in "Reservoir Dogs" and others....
That scene is actually a fairly acurate description of what happened, if you read the historical account from the Tombstone Epitaph.
http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/users/98/dylan/tomb/shootout.html
And especially with Val Kilmer stealing every scene.....like when he faces off Johnny Ringo....."I'll be your huckleberry"........
Great shit!

Ringo steps up to Doc] And you must be Doc Holliday.
Doc Holliday: That's the rumor.
Johnny Ringo: You retired too?
Doc Holliday: Not me. I'm in my prime.
Johnny Ringo: Yeah, you look it.
Doc Holliday: And you must be Ringo. Look, darling, Johnny Ringo. The deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill, they say. What do you think, darling? Should I hate him?
Kate: You don't even know him.
Doc Holliday: Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.
Wyatt Earp: [to Ringo] He's drunk.
Doc Holliday: In vino veritas.
Johnny Ringo: Age quod agis.
Doc Holliday: Credat Judaeus apella.
Johnny Ringo: [pats his gun] Ecentus stultorum magister.
Doc Holliday: [gives a Cheshire cat smile] In pace requiescat.
Tombstone Marshal Fred White: Come on boys. We don't want any trouble in here. Not in any language.
Doc Holliday: Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him.

After being stuck in a crossfire, by a stream, near to the end of the movie, when Wyatt crosses the stream and shoots a bunch of the cowboys….
“You ever seen anything like that”?
“I never ever heard of anything like that”
Question to Doc: “Where’s Wyatt”?
Doc replies, “he’s probably down at the stream, walking on water”….

Johnny Ringo, “my fights not with you, Holiday”.
Doc, “I beg to differ, sir. We started a game we never got to finish. Play for blood, remember.”
Johnny Ringo, “I was just fooling about……”
Doc, “I wasn’t”….”and this time it’s legal”….Doc shows him is US Marshal badge.
Johnny Ringo, “alright lunger…..lets do it…….”

At Glenwood Spring, Colorado, Doc is on his deathbed…..
Wyatt, “How you feeling today, Doc”?
Doc, “I’m dying”
Doc, “You’re the only human being in my entire life ever gave me hope….”
Doc, “Wyatt, what did you want in life?”
Wyatt, “Just to live a normal life”
Doc, “Say good bye to me, go grab that spirited actress, and make her your own, take that beauty and don’t look back, live for me”
Doc, “Wyatt, if you are ever my friend, if you ever had the slightest feeling for me, leave now….leave now, please”
Wyatt said, “Thanks for always being there Doc”.

Parts of the movie were filmed here in New Mexico, some of the original sets still stand...
I've been out there a couple of times...the place is cool.
I think it was film critic Roger Ebert that said,Val Kilmer not getting an academy award for his performance of Doc Holliday was the biggest travesty in Academy award history.
After watching Tombstone, all of the other western's about the the O.K. corral shootout are pretty lame in comparison.
...I've seen it about 20 times, never gets old.

Some of the movie was filmed here....Eaves ranch just south of Santa Fe,was used, place has been used for several westerns...they shot in several locations throughout the state.
Val Kilmer fell in love with the area while filming and ended up buying a ranch in the Northern part of the state.

The town is very cool.
As you walk around there are brass plaques (shaped like a shell) on the ground showing who was killed there and when. You can follow them in the order of the gun fight.
There are a lot of brass plaques on the ground. Many more than just from the OK Corral.
They re-enact the shootout regularly, and it is worth watching. I think the Crystal Palace was only open for tours, but you could get a drink at another bar that was around back then.
