Posting this for a friend of mine that is in the middle of doing a little boat shopping and asked me a couple of question and I thought I would get your impressions. He found a 2004 Cobra 230 Razor with 70 hours, a 496mag (no HO) bravo one, aftermarket stereo ($7000 from transonic) and Dana hinges. How accurate is the price? What would think this boat would go for?

I think pretty accurate, others think it is wrong....
But that is what i would go by, as that is what the banks use to fund loans

Thanks Miguel, NADA is saying its worth $47K and with all the upgrades they want $53K. Does sound about right?

Just because you paid 7K for a stereo, does not mean you can resell for 7K....
ill price it right now

My understanding is they say good for buyers, not as good for sellers.

I know this is what you do, But I disagree
Sold the shockwave for middle of the road in 2 days for what Nada had it as the middle.
DCB comes in at 107K,
BUT has the disclaimer that these are highly modified boats and will cost more ....
i would go by it selling or buying

I don't disagree with you at all..........I merely was repeating what I have heard from a few sources in the boat industry. Maybe NADA is more in tune than before and/or the market has balanced itself again.
Then again, the disclaimer leaves the door wide open for adjustment to garner what the market will bare.

I found nada lower than Kelly by 10-20% When you want to insure you cant insure for REAL value..Compair same boat With Kelly and you will get closer to actual value.. Also you can get compairable boat at Long Beach Yacht Sales for starting offer of 37,000. PM me for how to do it..

It is my understanding that NADA is compiled from averaged actual sales of like vehicles of a region, which means to me what the average person is willing to pay for a specific make and model.

So KBB means nothing to me when talking boats

I actually priced my boat myself to what I felt it could get. Then I learned about NADA. I ran all my options on there, just to see if I had my head in the clouds, and it turned out my price was right in between the high and the low....and it sold for my asking price last week. I did run into problems with finding options. For example, for swimsteps, it gave me teak or fiberglass (I had billet), I had water JACKETED Lightning Headers, it didn't have JACKETED, it had water injected.....just little stupid stuff like that....but it still worked.

If the NADA book for boats is accurate it is only by accident. Unlike their books for cars and/or trucks, they
do NOT receive any type of actual sales data from dealers or manufacturers--this book is merely a straight line
depreciation guide. Once a year they ask each manufacturer to give them the base price of each model
of boat along with a list of options. Then they take a certain percentage off of that price for the used models.
The next year it is a different percentage and all boats
are done the same regardless of name, type or value.
So if it is accurate, it is simply by accident. But yes, banks and credit unions do look at it when making their loans.
My experience is that the NADA book always says that it is worth less than what most sellers want.

And for a used boat, what type of down (if any) would one need.

The guy that bought my boat went through B of A...and they used NADA. I had to submit the page to them AND talk to the loan guy and walk him through the descriptions of specific accessories....THEN go through the stuff that NADA didn't register on their site.
