My PC-cillin Internet Security 06 is up today. $57.00 for a renewal.
Looking at The Shield Pro, seems to be top rated at 1/2 the price...any feedback?

For free you can use AVG or I have also been testing Avast which is free to home users.

AVG free, then choose from many great free anti-spyware products to keep the reap crap off your machine...

Just don't use Symantec or any of thier other "suite" (like the "firewall") of bs products....it totally takes over your computer and slows down everything and does a crappy job of protecting your computer.
It is one of worst software products ever sold......
Good luck!

This is what my PC-Cillin 2006 does...or should I say did!
However, I guess it did a pretty good job of protecting.

AVG ... has both a free addition and a "professional" edition. Most home users will never need the "professional" edition. Steve Gibson (author of AVG) has been well known in the industry before Microsoft. I've used all of his products for a lot of years.

If you have a router, you don't need the Symantec firewall or the Microsoft firewall......a router is the best firewall in the world for home users.
The free anti-virus listed above are good and don't slow down your computer so much.
PC-cilin is the home version of Trend Micro's anti-virus and is very good and doesn't slow everything down. I used the corporate version (Officescan) for years and it has never failed me.

Oh, I have a MacBook Pro....but running Parallels with XP Pro (for support at work)....and on the Windows side, you still have to run anti-virus.....NOD32 is the one!!

I think PC-Cillin is good, and I don't think it slows down your computer...just don't install all the other BS....just the antivirus.
Other then that, I have heard good things about NOD32, and I think there is a free home version.

Used to use AVG and it was fine I guess. When my hard drive crashed (not virus related) the techno geek that saved my shiz told me that NOD32 is what all the geeks use. So far so good. I'd recommend it.

I've had excellent luck with TM PCcillin and don't notice any resource hogging like I used to have with Norton. Until I have some significant reason to change I'll keep using it. One problem costs me more than the program does in time and effort to fix. I've had no virus problems so I'm sticking with it.
