I've done all the super trendy dinning, and I'm I'm not looking to go to any of the high end restraunts Vegas had to offer, done plenty of them and I'm over the wait and atmosphere for a while. Price is not and issue, we want a down to earth, saw dust on the floor type place.... any recommendations??

The locals will all tell you the best is the Steakhouse at Circus Circus.
Average prices for a men's club style steak house (dark wood and leather)
We've eaten there several times in both small and large groups always been very good and good service. a discreet $20 to the host or hostess will always move you up the reservation list on a busy night and get you a good table.
If price is no object the bone in Filet at Joe's in Caesar's is the best I've ever had anywhere. if you go there don't forget to have the stone crab.

You cannot beat Morton's for a steak in vegas. The Capital Grille at the fashion show mall comes in a very very close second to Mortons though, and has a better atomosphere and a great view of the front of the Wynn.

Truth. We sat for a 60 minute timeshare speel and Circus Circus gave us a $100 gift card to thier steakhouse. Migh be the best steak I have ever had. They have the free meal deal place across from the entrance to the steakhouse. Told them we were staying for a couple of days and it was comped. Will be there next weekend for the big O&A show. This is such an ineresting thread. You can tell that everyone has a different idea of a great steakhouse.
Everyone here has mentioned wonderful places..we have never been to the Circus Circus place only because we hate that part of town, especially the strip. And there's really not a lot to do at Circus Circus for us, BUT it is always rated in the top 3 of any steakshouse survey by the locals here, so I would definitely hit that place. It hasn't jumped the shark like others have.
Flemings in Summerlin is our second dining room :) and if we want to make the drive, Morton's it is. Mostly because I'm in love with Mark the manager.

Sorry, but I have never had a saw dust on the floor steak that could compete with the upperclass steak houses. Flemmings is My favorite(rib eye oscar style). I also enjoy Smith and Wollensky, Morton's, and Ruth's Chris. By the way The Cadillac Margarita at Smith and Wollensky is the best I've ever had.

Bob Taylor's Original Ranch House. Phone: 702-645-1399, address is 6250 Rio Vista Street, Las Vegas, NV 89130. I-15 North, to US-95 north, just past the Santa Fe Hotel off US-95 at Ann Road. Turn Right onto Ann Road, Turn Left onto Rio Vista and look for the Blue Blinking Light on the left. Yes, I know it's a bit of a drive, but you asked for the atmosphere this place has. You can smell the smoke and steaks as you are walking from your vehicle to the front porch and door. Yummy!
This a a real "old time" brick and wood Ranch House, you'll like the old time atmosphere. The steaks are done to your choice of cut and "done-ness." Lots of round table and ranch type chairs. Reminds me of an old time saloon and cardroom from the old western movies.
It's worth the drive and it's off the beaten path. It is excellent. Many times we have eaten there after a day on Lake Mead.
The steakhouse in the Hacienda at Lake Mead is very good also. It's the "last chance" casino heading east between the turn off for Lake Mead entry near Hememway launch ramp and the dam. Enjoy! - Wavemaker

Definetly SW Steakhouse in the Wynn Hotel. A little pricey but well worth it. Also if you don't make a reservation you won't get in.

Ok, if you like prime rib like they had in the day (oversized portions for good prices) then you have to try Jerry's Golden Nugget in North Las Vegas. It's a crappy area, an old casino, but they recently remodeled the coffee shop. You can get a thick cut of prime rib, and I mean about an 1 1/2 thick on an entire plate (your sides come on a seperate plate) for 14.99. Normal humans can't eat the double for 29 bucks. I love prime rib and eat there at least every other time I go to Vegas, and I go there quite a bit. ;)
Sorry I would rather season and cook my own rib eye than let any restaurant screw it up.

well if nobody has said it, then maybe I shouldn't spill the secret--all the long-time locals swear by Hugo's Cellar...it is in the basement of the 4-queens...
it is a 5-star type place--rose for the lady etc, so that takes away from the sawdust floor idea, but EVERYONE I know thats lived here a while likes it the best...Filet Atlantis = filet with king crab...it definitely rocks! Get the Hot Rock appetizer...

I have lived in Vegas pretty much all my life... (except college and law school). This is it. It is the oldest continually operating restaurant in Vegas (approx 1954) was in the movie Viva Las Vegas with Elvis. Used to be in the middle of nowhere.. loved going there when I was a kid, walking past the grill...
other than this ... Steakhouse in Circus Circus... everything else mentioned is pretty good..and have their attributes... although most of them chains.

Best steak I've ever had was at Emeril's Delmonico @ the Venetian. Served with three house made sauces - bearnaise, steak sauce, and worchestershire.
The steak didn't need the extra help. Try the barbecue shrimp for starters.
The sommelier found an excellent wine that didn't break the bank.
No sawdust on the floor, and a little pricey.
Does anybody remember a place in Vegas called "The Flame" ? Ate there in the early 80's. Our friend, a local, sent us there. Old school Vegas, with a maitre d' straight outta central casting. Wish it was still there - I heard the neon sign is still around somewhere in town. That place had a vibe...

Outcoled otta have some idea's...:confused:Well he kind of has conflicting requirements. Does he want "best steakhouse in Vegas" or does he want "sawdust on the floor." By implying that the best steakhouse in Vegas is also going to have sawdust on the floor he's making it difficult. :) (Not that there's anything wrong with sawdust-floor restaurants, it's just that I've never been in a place like that that served steaks like you get at Ruth's Chris and similar. :))

LMAO.. no one has sawdust on the floors in Vegas anymore... health code I believe... the last was chain that is here and it was more like peanut shells.. and their food is really just okay.
I think he was just trying to get the idea of old school across.
Edwards in LA was the last place i was at with actual sawdust...
ONLYMONEY: Where is Flemings located? I live at Sahara and Town Centre in Summerlin.
On Charleston across from Boca Park is the closest to you.. there is a couple in town. But its a chain too.. ate there a couple times IMO it was okay and not worth the money...

Like stated earlier. Lots of chains mentioned. Not a bad thing. I prefer a single restaurant when it comes to high end food.
Coming from a local that love good food.
*Craftsteak at the MGM is top notch.
*Delmonicos at the Venetian is great, but I don't think as good as Craftsteak. It is a Emeril place btw.
*Flemings for a chain. I think it is better than Ruths Chris or any of the others.
*And the Kicker for one of the best steaks in the area. The crappy little Hacienda Hotel down by Lake Mead has an AWESOME steak house. We ate there a few months ago on a Sunday night. Everything in Boulder closes at about 5Pm Sun (gotta love little towns) so we went to the Hacienda for dinner. THe service was great, inexpensive and seriously one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. :)
N9Ne or whatever it is called at the Palms was horrible. It was so loud, service was terrible and the food was mediocre. :(
I did hear the steak place in NYNY was good. We will have to try it.

*Flemings for a chain. I think it is better than Ruths Chris or any of the others.I tried Fleming's once (after already being a die-hard Ruth's Chris'er). Once I found out that Fleming's doesn't serve T-bones they went on my "do not go back" list. But to each his own, of course. :)

Hey thanks for all the replys guys. We're just planning on being a little more layed back than usual this weekend, rolling up for Viva Las Vegas. I used to be always on the Vegas kick, tring to start getting back up there. I didnt know many of the off the beaten path places, now I know more than a few. I really appreciate all the recommendations. Kinda an anti collared shirt weekend, as I'm sure we'll be going out straight from the pool. Thanx again everyone!!

Happy to help. You indicated you were looking for the old sawdust on the floor type steakhouse atmosphere, and most of the responses were the large chain and high end places. I've been to Lawrey's, The Golden Steer (on Sahara just east of I-15), Arnie Mortons, New York- New York Hugos Celler, etc., and on and on.
To fit the atmosphere as you described, Bob's Original Ranch House is it. I even appreciated a couple of the respondents agreeing and quoting my original response to you. Go exploring a little bit when you are in the Las Vegas area. It's fun to discover something different.
We once did an impromtu BBQ party grilling steaks at the condo in Boulder, NV after a full day of boating on Lake Mead (on the water before 7 am back to the condo about 4:30 pm). Drinks, beer and steaks never tasted better! The neighbors, our guests and boating friends that joined us still mention what a fun party it was! Just pulled it all together after we got back from the lake and too many people to decide where to go for dinner that evening. Decisions by committee take too long with much talk and BS. Just sent a couple of the ladies to the market for steaks, anycuts they wanted, several different types, and all the dinner fixings, salads, dessert etc. for about 20 people. It was so good! Then the hot tub later on that night. Goodtimes and the season is starting up! - Wavemaker
