View Full Version : Best movie ever

My Man's Sportin' Wood

Okay, we have a worst movie thread. . . what do you think are great movies? I can't say one is the best, I love movies and have seen too many great ones. I'd have to say, though, "I am Sam" is near the top of my list. I don't care for Sean Penn as a person, but I think he's a phenomonal actor. Oh, and speaking of Penn, I'll list one of his wife's movies as well. "Forrest Gump." And my favorite bubblegum eye candy movie? Dazed and Confused. I LOVE that movie!!!! I think Forrest Gump is about the best ever, though. IMO

Ahhh yes, Tombstone is great. So are all of the Raiders series.
I saw "Chinatown" recently and that was pretty awesome also. I've done a lot of research on Mulholland and his water theft from the Owens Valley, so I had a little background knowledge. The end was quite a twist, though. I like plot twists. What was that movie with Kevin Bacon, Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell and Charlie Sheen's Ex? Set on the Bayou. That had a great plot twist. Had a great threesome scene also. :D

That was a good movie, can't remember the name though. Another good twist one was the one with the kid who says "I see dead people" Can't remember the name of that one either

What's that one about Cameron Crowe becoming a Rolling Stone writer? The music in that one is great! Along those musical lines "Oh, Brother, Where art thou?" ranks right under Forrest Gump in my book.

I think pretty much anything with Haley Joel Osmond and Dakota Fanning in it is great. Everytime I see something with either one of them in it, I am amazed by their acting skills at such a young age.

Chinatown is a great movie. Although I am only 33, my dad is a history buff and I grew up in the Owens Valley in Bishop. I love old movies! :)
"The Man Who Would be King" and "The Wind and the Lion" both awesome movies. I should add them to my short list of great all time movies.
Real old... "Casa Blanca" is good. Supprising enough, I have never seen "Gone with the Wind" but I hear it is amazing.

Jeff's watching Smokey and the Bandit right now.
I do love Monty Python's Holy Grail. My kids love it, too. I showed part of it in my world history class when we were doing the black death "Bring out your dead!" I also showed part of "History of the World Part I" by Mel Brooks. I showed the Inquisition scene. The kids were cracking up.

The most "fun" movie I ever watched is an OLD movie. "The Great Race". Circa 1964 or so, Tomy Curtis, Peter Faulk, Jack Lemmon, it's just a fun flick to watch.
Behind it is "Patton".
So much of the recent crap just doesn't compare.
