I just had an offer on my brothers LAVEY. What is the best way to exchange $$. Bank draft, cashiers check or ? The amount was over 25k if that matters.

Make sure it is a Cashier's Check from a reputable major bank. Then call the bank to make sure it is valid. DO NOT call the number printed on the check as they put fraudulent numbers on fraudulent checks.

Do you have the title? Are they paying cash or financing.
A financed deal is easier. Just sold my boat and they sent a check from Key Bank to Key Bank to pay off my loan and they sent me a check for my balance.
Super easy!

If it is local then go to the bank with him and get the cashiers check or bank transfer. The only two really ways to know the money is real. Cashiers checks today are not worth the paper they are writen on.

The boat is in my brothers name who lives in North California and i'm down south. The boat is payed for and this will be a straight deal. He said he would bring a cashiers check for his Police credit union. Yep the guy is a San Berdo S.O. He seems like a straight up guy but since i'm doing the deal for my brother and have no way of REALLY knowing who the guy is I want to cover my azz. I really have no reason to suspect the the guy just would like to know what is the best way. I can't really take him to deposit it to my bank unless he writes the C.C in my name which just may be a possibly:idea:

Does the boat have insurance? If so then who really cares, it is fraud if the check is bad. Then it is stolen, then the insurance company pays. Yes take the precautions to not let the fraud happen, but you can only go so far.
