I am adding a room and have to change my dryer vent...is the roof good, or do you get too much lint on the roof?

That way you wont have to worry about rabbits getting in the vent hose.

best thing I ever did was go out the roof...........no ugly flap outside that the rodents and kids can use improperly. No steamy fog to walk past, unless you like the aroma of Bounce :D.
Any lint on roof is negligable, dries up fast and blows away.

If you put a screen over the vent to keep out birds and bugs, then you will have to get up on the roof every 2 months to clean the lint out.

The only thing you need to make sure is to keep it clean. It is more likley to clog and burn out your dryer.

Depending on how sharp your inspector is , NOT LEGAL
Fire hazard
Just let it blow into the attic, free insulation;)
From this old boat,to this old house.
Make sure you have a ladder big guy :jawdrop:

Its legal. You can but a clean out in just below the elbow that goes up. Make sure you keep it clean. You can also do a power vent with a fan if you need.

Happy 1,000th post!
I just got off the phone with BrianB and he was explaining that the code reads a bit ambiguous but appears to many inspectors as illegal. I am not worried...I am not pulling a permit on the room addition as I am just enclosing a veranda style patio. I am also enclosing a small portion of the garage to make a laundry room. Longer term plans involve tearing down that section of the house. But, we need some extra room like yesterday and I can probably get the enclosure done over the weekend.
