I am not gonna lie to you and say that weekend isn't rough/busy.
Lots of huge boats with big power churrning up the water.
If you got to the Blackmeadow area early enough and just hung out for most of the day until the water calms down I think you will be fine. (It gets really nasty right when the run ends and everyone races for a spot in the channel)

Voodoo...The run usually starts the first wave at about 9am...then several waves are released about 15min apart till all (over?)200 are on their way....The crowd thins out about two hours into it....

Usually, the first card stop is at Havasu Springs, the second is near Havasu Landing, and the third is in Thomson Bay. The last two open after lunch.
They segregate the boats by speed into groups, with the first group probably doing a parade lap through the channel around 9AM-10AM.

Why not go down the lake a little further whereit is really wide and a straight shot for the springs? Should be able to catch some 160+ speeds there at a safe distance.

That's were I'll be. Gary Smith in the Predator boat told me after the slight turn at Black Meadows is where they really open it up and get moving. Last year I was just past Black Meadows on the California side, but it seemed most of the boats were running closer to the AZ side.

Last year it seemed they were doing a little over 100 past us, however they would come close to the shore line where we all were at. If someone has a drive failure or steering failure at 100+, and makes a hard right turn, a disaster is waiting to happen.
I am planning on heading down the lake a little further, maybe 1/2 mile past black meadow to watch. Really wide there and straight shot for speed.
Hell, I might even open mine up to 55 MPH in that spot. :D

We start staging the boats at 9:30, up thru the channel, around the island on the Cali side, till they clear Steamboat where they are released from the group leader.
Guessing 10:15ish, we'll call it out on the radio.
The fastest down and back trip I've ever recorded was 14 minutes, including picking up a card :sqeyes: :sqeyes: Keep that in mind, the return trip happens rather quickly.;)

I was working on the garage I keep the boat in (metal building) and I needed to raise it 5' to clear the new boat. We got it up yesterday but still have about 8 hours of work on it putting all the panels back up.
Problem is, I dont have 1 weekend free until June 1 if I dont do it this coming weekend.
I am waiting to see what the company would charge to install the panels, but if they wont, or want stupid money to do it, then I am going to finish the garage instaed of going to the run. It is more important to me for the boat to be in the garage then go to the run.
So I'll know by Wednesday what the program will be for me.
