Go and search HTM...you will have some reading to do.
Quality of the boat? Again read away.
Then there is the tragic ending.
Maybe two popcorns Jordy.
I also gave these boats some serious thought.
After researching yourself...you be the judge.

Not going to comment on HTM (or any other boat) safety or quality. All have good and bad points. I'm just there to pick up the pieces and find out what happens WHEN something goes wrong.
Doesn't Cheetah supply hulls to HTM?

I'm gonna man up and tell you what i think. I've never heard one good thing about them, and heard alot of bad things about how they handle, turn, ride etc. all from well known engine builders/boat racers.
Just my .02 cents, out of all the cats that'd be the last i'd ever think of owning

Honestly, I can't tell you much about build quality, but I do know they are a pretty fast hull. The ones I have seen have been from a distance, but have all been pretty cool looking. They look large for a 24. They make my 23 look small.
I like the SS-24 much better than the SR-24.
You will get lots of views on HB forums..LOL. Most of the people on here that own them, do like the boat. Find someone that has owned one, and you will get a better answer. People are always going to defend what they currently own. Previous owners will be a little more truthful.
Dorian is a nice guy and has good follow up. I inquired about them a while back and he was very helpful.
Good Luck.
There are a few goodlooking ones on Boattrader. :)

We have all been passed by a fast 24 HTM, besides the comments Lia and Dorian are great people and will take care of you over there at High Torque.
Shop around, do the rounds:
24 HTM
25 Daytona
26 Force/Carrera
27 Ultra
26 Cobra
26 Shockwave
DCB, Howard, also American Offshores are built in California now.
Its a buyers market, best of luck.

What I dont understand is how if you dont like something you are a hater. I dont like htm's I would never own one nor would I ever ride in one (except in a straight line at a slow speed). But why am I a hater. I dont hate them I just would not own one. Just wondering ;)

 so I often wonder, if the accident had not occured at Castaic that day, and they had gotten the big number they were looking for, would there be all the haters ?
Then again what if it had been Dave from DCB that had the accident, would everyone be all over DCB ?
Don't be smartasses and say it couldn't or wouldn't happen to any other brand, right place, right time could have been any other brand.
I believe they got the big #--they just didn't live to tell about it :(
You're right--could have been anybody, and sucks that it was anyone :(

I enjoy my SS. Its 6 years old and still looks good with no structural issues. They don't handle the big water as well as the 26+ footers but it handles 2.5' chop at a 100 with no problem. Anything bigger than 3' at decent speed and it wont stay in the water. Once you get a little air under it suddenly becomes a 18 footer due to the fast taper at the front of the sponsons and the rear double steps make it even more flighty. This is something I don't think a lot of the people realize. Some of the guys here call it a drivers boat but its pretty much point and shoot unless your pushing it in big water. I dont take agressive high speed turns but I have taken sweeps around a 100 with no issues. At lows speeds the hull is pretty wet and will hunt some until you get a little air under it. I would say this hull is not for everyone. It is agressive and as big as it feels its still a short hull and has a higher center of gravity from the taller freeboard. Having said that, my wife drives it a 100 and I have seen mid 120's on a few occasions with no scares. I think its a lot of boat for the money but there are others out there that are as well.

Who gives a faulk; if you like it, by it. People talk a bunch of shiat, and the fact prolly is that the ones that are the loudest, prolly never been in an HTM. Aside from all of the BS, and the pros and cons, they did make there own boats from scratch, that's somethin there ain't it?

Exactly...
So why blame the boat design, boat builder, or driver?
If you have a tire blowout on your car does that mean your particular car is a POS and nobody should buy that car anymore?
Duh...
What happened, happened, and everyone should learn from it, not bash.
I joke about alot of things but this will never be one of them.
Don't know the HTM families involved personally and probably never will, but out of respect for myself I don't joke about it...

I don't think anybody knows FOR SURE what really happened that day, nor will we ever...I would imagine after seeing the bottom of the lake it would be hard to tell what happened first...bad deal all the way around.

The way used boat sales are these days, you can probably make offers for
75k on much higher priced boats and find the guy with a big enough hole he dug himself into and steal a lot of boat for a lot less money.

Haters on HTM always.:( I loved my SR24. They handle fine at slow speeds but will handle better when you get a little air under them. On Havasu the ride was a little rough on windy days but other than that, it was great. I had 800hp in mine and it ran 104, felt solid the whole way. I wish some of the people who dislike them so much would take a ride in one. As far as blowing over and crashes, alot of the people who buy HTM buy them to push the limits and try for some big numbers. Sometimes bad things happen.

I've had my sr24 for ~4 yrs. My family and many others love it. Very safe, yes I said VERY safe. Highest freeboard of any cat out there. That means kids don't fly out(or drunk friends). Best thing I did was to put a Peto 650hp motor in it. Now it will bring the bow up on demand and cruise at 75mph. Yes it will probably do 90mph but thats reserved for ideal situations. Yes I boat at Havasu all the time. Thought about something different but nothing would suit our needs.

Hey bro go drive one and see if you like it. If not, at $75k you can find some nice Daytonas and I think there is is even a DCB with a 525 in spam for 75k.
Buy whatever you want, its your boat.
Good luck on whatever you get.
