hey anyone watch that show on Speed Channel the other night wehere they built to specs 5 motors from the 60's one 63 pontiac 421 dual 4's p[ut out like 510 HP and they rtested a 67 L88 427 that put out 526HP and a ford 427 cobra jet that put out 638HP and a Chrysler Hemi 426 get this 836 HP and incredible torque ... im missing the 5th motor and the torque specs on the rest but it was a good show . they dyno'd all the motors and when they did the Hemi you could tell the Dyno didnt Bog down like the rest did ... anyway was a good show all motors were built to how they were Produced from the 60's ... OHHHHHH the 5th motor was the Chevy 409 that put out just over 500HP

Saw it...It was pretty cool. I wonder since they were all restored, how many of them were really set up as they were when they came from the factory.

the motors they tested were suppose to be blueprinted from original specs they used in the 60's . and i dont remember the name of the show but it was on speed like thursday night . was a good show just cant believe how under estimated they rated HP back then but they did say it was because of Insurance is why most engine were rated around 400 hp back then .

...And they were all in the 13's and 14's because of those bitchen' F70-14's that passed for "state of the art" rubber back then. Remember too, that the stockers were all exhaling through manifolds and not headers from the factory. That made a huge difference in HP numbers.
