We are getting ready to book our hawaii vacation. I have been twice but I was 6 and 7 yrs old. We belong to WorldMark/TrendWest time share deal. They give me 4 choices and would like to know what there is to do in those areas from those of you that have been there. Just don't want to hear that song and dance from a travel agency. We need to book this a year in advance.
Here are the 4 choices:
Kapaa Shore Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii (http://trendwest.com/resorts/kapaa-shore.html)
Kihei-Kehei, Maui, Hawaii (http://trendwest.com/resorts/kihei.html)
Kona-Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (http://trendwest.com/resorts/kona.html)
Valley Isle- Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii (ttp://trendwest.com/resorts/valley-isle.html)

Lahaina/Maui is definately the way to go in my opinion. Great beaches, great restaurants. We went para-sailing there, too....so much fun!!

I've been to Kehei, Maui twice. Once as a kid and again for our honeymoon. I would go back again if I had to choose. It's a very nice part of Maui, it's not as "tourist-y" as Lahaina and some of the other towns which I liked. It's an easy drive to all the popular spots on the island like "Big Beach" and the famous "Little Beach" (nude). In a nutshell it's more of a low key, mellow, and very relaxing place... Now I wanna go back :)

I lived on Oahu for 3 years, but Island hopped quite a bit.
Lahaina would be my first choice. More to do there, and you can hit the other spots on Maui easily.
If you want to see the other Islands, they're short flights away for an overnighter. Kauai is a must do.

Maui, no doubt. I am here as I type this and having a great time. Headed to a Luau in Lahaina in about 20 minutes. Just waiting for the wife to get ready. We are in Kaanapali but definityely get a car and tour the island yourself. There are plenty of things to do here. Let me know if you want more info.

Been to Maui many times over the years, and if you can swing it you'll love Napili Bay check out the Napili Sunset they are great rooms. Right by Kapalua close to Lahina and Kanapali. Very laid back. But we are going back in August ourselves and have been looking around Kehei at some of the condos. About $100 cheaper a night to stay on the beach:) Which is about 6 miles long:D
