View Full Version : Rex Marine... always so unreliable?

I'm looking for other's experiences with Rex Marine. I've ordered three items since February and received one. Here's the short of it:
stainless fuel fills- ordered end of Feb, received one week later.
anodized ignition bezel - ordered with fuel fills in Feb, not received
lightning foot throttle - ordered end of March, still not received
I've called twice on the foot throttle, and was told two different dates for delivery.... still haven't seen the part. Its 90 degrees here now, my boat has fresh new interior and a new hydraulic diverter. And I'm missing one part to get on the water.... the throttle. What gives?

To tell you the truth, I don't always agree with Rex-one on this site, but I can't say anything bad about their service. A-One in my book.;) They've gone above and beyond when I've been in a jam and needing parts to finish jobs. Keep up the good work. BTW, it takes alot of money to stock and keep on hand every single part that a company like Rex sells.

sorry for the problems. A PM would have solved it tho.
PM me your name and I'll look into it and see what's up.
I do know that it's a bitch getting lightning throttles much of the time and that "might" be some of the problem. speculation only at this point.

Money aside, this time of year the problems of about 150 outside vendors are now reflected as our problems. Delivery on a lot of stuff is really shitty right now. Not an excuse and I realize the customer doesn't care that we just can't get some stuff and get told stories daily by vendors that don't come through on time. Just the way it goes in April-May period. Many companies are small like us and are really stretched to build stock over winter to cover an undetermined spring summertime immediate demand for product, which changes in mix each year some.

Well, it looks like everyone that has responded hasn't had the bad luck I've experienced. I'm definitely not trying to present a bad image of this company. I've just had a poor experience as of late, and was looking for other's thoughts. I never knew a representative of the company was on this site, so no, I never thought of pm'ing Rexone. Didn't know he existed. I will pm him tonight to see if he can crack some heads and get these parts sent.
Thanks for the help guys!

My wife bought some stuff from them for my birthday, and they were very good at guiding her to what I wanted/needed........and saved her some money, also.....
It must have been a fluke.........he will take care of it.

Well, I've called three times on the parts... so, in essence I've tried working this problem out outside of public forums. I'm getting desperate here, so my apologies if I've offended anyone. But yes, the parts are out-of-stock. However, the ignition bezel (yeah, I know... a $5 part) has been out-of-stock since February and the throttle was ordered in March. Its now May.
Once again, I was never trying to start a confrontation. I simply haven't dealt with this company much (or any marine supplier for that matter) and didn't really know if this was normal to wait so long for parts.
Cheers to all, and thank again for the comments. I'm certain Rexone and I can get this handled.

Well, it looks like everyone that has responded hasn't had the bad luck I've experienced. I'm definitely not trying to present a bad image of this company.
I wouldn't sweat it, were I you. Rexone is a cool guy and a real friend to the community. This group is pretty defensive about this type of thing.
As far as I'm concerned, your post was pretty classy. What's more, we all know Mike is going to take care of your problem the way he always does.
To those who think this makes Rex Marine look bad, I think you're wrong. Look on other boards. Posts and threads get deleted when things seem like they might be negative, or maybe even lead to negative, press for a sponsor company. Very few sites could give a rats ass about a customer's experience. They only care about protecting the sponsors reputations, right or wrong. Think of the balls it takes to put it all on the line with full exposure of your customer handling performance.
In my opinion, Rexone is pretty much bullet proof. How many people have slammed him or his company without even talking to them directly? I can think of several. Off the top of my head, I remember a guy who came in here talking shit about Rex Marine because he had some malfunctioning flappers in a pair of older exhaust tips that came with his used boat. Rexone had a brief and courteous exchange with the guy in the thread, exchanged some PMs, took the guys tips in, replaced the flappers for free, and returned them with a fresh polish.
Rex Marine look bad because of the ***boat forums? I think not.
In fact, as far as I'm concerned, the guy is showing off and I, for one, am sick of it. http://www.***boat.com/ubb/mad.gif

[QUOTE=The Bilge Idiot;2533197]One cant help but wonder, the way you adjust the calender to make things sound worse, if perhaps the throttle was actually ordered the first of April? Which would mean,
that it hasn't even been a full month yet........pretty close though http://www.***boat.com/ubb/graemlins/idea_2.gif
Ok, its now April 30. We're two hours and ten minutes away May 1. Splitting hairs are we? If we use your manipulation of the calendar, the date is now May 10.
The throttle was ordered end of March by phone, and the bezel was ordered end of February via internet. I can find exact dates if you really need them. Even if the throttle was ordered first of April (which it was not), this is not consistent with the short delivery times others have reported here.
Please allow Rex and I to work this out off the boards. Thanks.

Twowheeledfish I tracked your order down and it shipped on Friday the 27th. I sent you a detailed PM. Friday was the same day we received the throttle from Lightning (as I suspected the reason it was delayed). Lightning, like many of us in the industry, struggle a bit this time of year with the overwhelming demand all at once for product. The bezel shipped along with the throttle. Thanks for your biz. It is genuinely appreciated. As is everyones.

The thought of Brown visiting again keeps me awake at night JBB. There's nothing worse than Brown entering your restroom complaining of stomach pains and not emerging for what seems like an hour. All the while hearing what sounds like miniture nuclear explosions within the restroom. You just know at that point plumbing issues are near as well as the likely need for a pressure washer.
Fortunately at our new location there's a gas station equipped with the power toilets about a block away. When he shows up here I'm going to just give him my gas card and tell him to to gas up and take care of business while he's over there. It will probably save me hundreds of dollars and a couple days of cleanup time.
I love Mr Brown to death but that guy can sure screw up a nice restroom in short order. :(
