The year was 1982 at Edwards AFB in the High Supersonic Corridor. I was fortunate to get a backseat ride in an F-106 at FL500, we reached mach 1.7. At that altitude there is no sensation of the speed you are traveling.
It is a little different when you are cruising up the Panamint Valley @ 200 ft AGL doing 600 knots. A day I will always remember.:D

i took 2nd place at last years silver state classic challenge in Nevada when i drove my year 2001 viper ACR 90 miles in 36 minutes flat. i averaged 150 mph on the 2 lane road which runs from Lund, Nevada to Hiko, Nevada. the road has 45 turns and lots of hills on it. the first 70 miles of the course i averaged 160 mph. i took a few turns at 160 mph. Jeffrey Wren from Larrys Engine & Marine who is the Navigator on the Predator was riding shotgun with me and helping me navigate the course. he worked the GPS and i worked the stopwatch. we will be back again this year. here is a pic of us at speed from last years event.

I feel for you in the knee repair subject... I've had too many injuries myself 6 knee surgeries total...2 total repairs on each knee!!! I used to be a runner and pretty fast but softball was my life, obviously it ended after the first injury! now I try to golf cause I must havce a sport in my life!!
