A plane is standing on a runway that is made of a large conveyor belt. The plane fires up its engines, but as it moves forward, the conveyor belt senses the speed of the plane's wheels and moves at exactly the same speed in the opposite direction. Can the plane take off?

No.
The plane will be at a stand still and unable to trap enough air under it's wings to get off of the ground.

Trick question? the conveyor belt wont have any effect. The thrust of the engines is going to propell the plane forward. Doesnt run like a car where the power is supplied at the wheel:confused:

On Star Trek, a member of the "Q" wanted to commit suicide because everything had been done, they had nothing left to talk about.

With wheel speed being countered, yes the plane will take off. If the conveyor is countering the plane's speed, no, the plane will never move. Big difference there. ;)
