A multi-agency enforcement effort to combat those people operating watercraft under the influence will take place this weekend on Lake Mohave, the Colorado River and Lake Havasu. Boaters will not only be checked for alcohol impairment, but also required safety equipment, such as proper life jackets and working fire extinguishers.
As the old Police Sgt. use to say... People lets be careful out there!!!!!!

Alright...I'll ask. What has to be on the boat to make it pass?? Has anything changed from the last few years??

This site seems to do a good job of outlining what is required for AZ and Federal waterways...

Lifevest? WORKING fire extinguisher?
Does a blowup doll, bubble wrap, condoms and a Super Soaker squirtgun count?

I heard there is going to be a boating safety area set up by the Coast Guard at London Bridge Beach this Saturday from 10-3pm. You can check out all that is required and recommended. I think they also said they will be trading out damaged/old children's lifevests for new ones to the first 50 or so people...not sure about the exact amount. But looks like there will be lots of info out there.

That's not something we'd be checking during a stop, nor is it something aimed at the individual boater. It's a requirement of manufacturers and dealers, based on NMMA, ABYC and Coast Guard Standards. There aren't even any laws regarding that which apply to the "consumer" (boat owner).
But it's always a good idea to make sure the terminals are covered, and connections are tight. Did any of you know that wing-nuts on battery terminals are not acceptible per Manufacturer's Standards? Terminal nuts must be standard hex head nuts.

Do easily detachable wooden artificial limbs count as a throwable device?

No problemo Leo, and even if those covers dont warrant a fix-it ticket it is still a good idea to keep them covered, fumes and shit you know, dont want that pretty new Ultra blowin up on ya :( NSF
