View Full Version : Installing Cup Holder in Armrest

I was curious if anyone has added cup holders to their rear bench armrests? If so, any suggestions on the best way to go about it? Whoever built my boat apparently didn't factor in beverages .
My guess would be to cut the vinyl in an ""X", fold that back. Remove foam. Drill hole. Slide vinyl into hole then cup holder over vinyl. Silicone/or other adhesive in place?
Any other suggestions?
Something like this, but the rear bench.
Thanks -JS

That's exactly what I was referring to. I'm going to go with SS or anodized. Did you do that or was that from the factory? I'm trying to figure the best way to keep it secure and clean with f'n up my vinyl.
And racecar... is that where you put your coffee to keep it warm in the morning?

LC , it came like that from the forward thinking builders of Mirage boats :D .
I've got the ones up front replaced with s/s cups from home sense [ since these cupholders are shallower than the ones from Rex and others ] and I machined powdercoated red bezels to fit them >
It's still the black plastic in the picture , left of the wheel

Thats the way to go. My only sugestion. No silicone/adhesive, the vinyl that you fold down into the hole will hold the cup holders tight enough.

Campbell boats Lake havasu have ready made removable cup holder. They have a flat metal plat on them so they wedge between back seat cushions.

Just as a tip...make sure you use the size cup holder that will hold a can of what ever (soda, beer) AND the coolly cup insulator:D
